First off, I was up in B-More for Homecomingand the 40th anniversary celebration at UMBC this past weekend. The short story: good times. The long story will follow at some point with pictures.
I'm still searching for what will be the jumpoff Halloween weekend (i.e. starting at the end of the work day tomorrow). I don't mean to play into the Greensboring stereotype, but there seems to be very little to get into this weekend, and that's even if I don't rule out those where I'm highly likely to run into students of mine. There's just not much going on. And mind you, before this, obviously was Guavaween in Tampa, always something jumping in B-more (especially since I was an undergrad) and even Wilmington has The Loop as their Halloweekend jumpoff. Here? Relatively nada. And I'm excited about my costume too, so I need to find something. I could also stand to find some friends--my apt. is still party-ready if I had ample folks to invite over. And of course there's Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, but alot of what's poppin there tends to be on actual halloween night (a Tuesday). Plus, the one person I actually know out in the Hill, Matt, works as a resident director and as such, will be on lock down while all the shenanigans are taking place.
Not that I expect you to, but if you should happen to know what's really good around here, holla!
