Ich Bin Ein North Carolinian

So at long last, after having lived here well over a year, I finally have a NC driver license and my car registered here. I need to get a DE bumper sticker or something, because upon relinquishing my DE tags, there'll be no more DE left on my car! And I gotta represent. I was hoping to get my plates to say "302 KID" but they didn't ask me if I wanted to customize and by the time they handed me my new tags it was too late. The back of my car really doesn't look right to me with NC tags on it.

I was afraid for the driving test--you've gotta get 20 out of 25 and you're at a cmputer, and after having gotten the first one wrong, I was a little shook, particularly since I hadn't so much as cracked an NC driver manual. But I made it, and I am now a f'real licensed driver in the state of NC.

I started writing this 5 days ago and it never got posted. Just two more things I was finna talk about:

I got my "Give Us Money" brochure from UMBC... what was cool was that in the back it says "Designed by Erin Barata, class of '03". Yay drbarata!

In looking through it and looking for my own name (because it really is all about me) and in the parents section I notive "Beverly and Travis Tatum". Which makes me think: Does Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, president of Spelman College and author of "Why are all the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?" have a kid that attends UMBC? It seems so; I did some lookin and her husband's name is definitely Travis and there's a kid on facebook with her last name who lists her book among his favorite books. If so, that's pretty damn cool.

Since I started this entry, Sharon and Carl have come and gone, and I made a trip out to Chapel Hill to see the Bulls whoop up on the Tar Heels. More on that later.
