In other news, I finished my final project for Sub-linear Time Algorithms (6.896). It actually turned out pretty well... there's an informal writeup online if anyone's curious. It has to do with clustering data points, and proving that by clustering a randomly selected fraction of the points (about 1/4 in my data; smaller fraction as the total number of points increases), we can find the centers of clusters just as well (or at least almost as well) as if we cluster all of the points.
I didn't get to play with things as much as I wanted due to a stupid bug... but I finally figured it out around 4:30 am and was able to get everything done just in time for grades to be turned in. Hopefully she's feeling nice.
