Some days, Dawn wasn't up to the challenge. And Buffy had shown her that there were options.
Dawn had picked up a handful of maple seeds drifting in the gutter, and now, from the edge of the roof, she let them go in the breeze. With their fibrous wings, they spun like little helicopters, bright silver green in the sun. They hadn't ceased being, just because they were no longer in her hand.
Buffy'd had the blessing of knowing she would always be real. Dawn had to prove it day after day by continuing to exist.
It just wasn't fair.
