Title: The Heaven and the Earth

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Was there a time when she believed that? How many planets? How many heavens?
In the beginning Rhys smiled at her, and the evening and the morning were the first day.
He was more constant than heaven and earth--it was easy to take the ground she stood on for granted. She suspected she was his sun. But how, with so much darkness inside her?
The blood flowing from between her fingers looked black. She pressed her hand harder to his chest, rocking him, trying to divide light from darkness.
