Under the Big News category:  my job audit came through.  I now come with a new title and $6,500 more a year.  Not bad for a dreamer :-) but I must give the majority of the credit to Someone Else, because my journey seems to be made up of being in the right place at the right time with the right people ( Read more... )

Brought the big sparrow cage outside early this morning, made sure that everyone had a really good breakfast, and left the cage door open.  Eight brave little feathered souls flew up into the branches of the big maple in the back yard, as if they had never spent the past two weeks growing up under my roof.  Two very skeptical sparrows had to test ( Read more... )

When you are a wildlife rehabilitator, you give up your spring to anything spontaneous.
It is also more work than having an infant.  At least they fall asleep in the car.

The sounds of baby birds hiding everywhere outside have a whole new meaning, and invoke an entirely different set of emotions.

I've finally come to the conclusion, at the young age of 48, that I cannot do everything I'd like to do. There just isn't enough time.

So I am going to concentrate my energies into two three things (other than family, that's a given):
