OK, I finished The Sign of Four last night. I'm so happy to finally be into the short stories again.
The good part of So4 was meeting the future Mrs. Watson. I was surprised to actually like the parts between her and Watson; probably because they were few and kind of intense. As far as I can tell, they knew each other a few days and got engaged. They also went straight from "I like you" to "Marry me!" The bad part of So4 was pretty much that everything seemed so stretched out. As I read the last chapter I ended up skipping entire paragraphsbecause I didn't give a flying fig why the guy did it all.
Weirdest bit: When Watson mentions that he got a fiancee and the detective got the glory and Holmes got nothing out of the case, Holmes says it's OK, cause he's got his drugs. Well, alright then.
I've read Scandal in Bohemia (for like the 50th time) and Red Headed League (for the 3rd) and A Case of Identity since finishing So4. I love short stories. Such a feeling of accomplishment in such a short time. I love Holmes!
I tried to watch Tropic Thunder for a little while last night. I couldn't do it. Between the language (hearing the "F word" feels like actually being slapped in the face to me, I'm such a sheltered wimp) and RDJ in blackface (ugh) I didn't think it was worth it. That fake preview for Satan's Alley creeped me out, too, with RDJ wearing blue contacts. What the heck? That was disturbing.
I think I'll put Iron Man in and just watch the Tony/Pepper parts. That'll be fun.
