Cimorene keeps telling herself she's happy. And she is. Which leaves her unsure as to why she needs to tell herself so. But she knows she needs to get out and away, now and then. So she's off on a walk to nowhere in particular.
She doesn't recognize him at first, startled but not scared at the sudden appearance of the figure. But then she looks closer "...Gaheris?"

A moment's thought. She's--she's the woman who said she was a friend, who told him of the child. His eyes clear briefly with rememberance, but he still hangs back. There's a graze on his cheek.
