Still Traumatised!

One problem of Mordred's is fixed, but not the other. Gaheris has taken to hiding outside, deep in the forest, because something in it stills his fear and makes it a little easier, just as when it first happened the woods succoured him and shielded him and pushed away his knowledge for a while; he frequently doesn't come back to the house at night. He only speaks in Latin now, when he speaks at all, distancing himself from his own tongue.

It's the same long madness that necessarily took him the last time, that necessarily must take him this time, despite Gareth's apparent forgiveness and Mordred's acceptance. It isn't with difficulty. He doesn't protest the taking.

Now he's busy losing himself in briars and vines, his troubled eyes glancing around him constantly, sometimes seeing everything and sometimes nothing at all. When he finally emerges on the edge of the forest, with leaves and thorns in his hair, he blinks. The world seems more bright than he remembered.
