Today was a good day :)

Got a few new art supplies (a mini watercolor pad, an eraser, and a black 05 Micron pen), and I'm looking forward to doing watercolor again. I have a bigger pad of watercolor paper, but I keep avoiding it because I don't want to commit to such a "big" piece of paper, unless I'm deliberately planning to do a painting of that size. I always prefer to work small when drawing informally, which is why I love my 5.5" x 8.5" sketchbook.

I looked for Tria markers but they didn't have any. That made me sad. Seriously, does any art store carry those anymore? They seem to be disappearing all over the place, except online. I know Copics are great too, but they're also more expensive ($4 each, at least here in Canada). I guess I could wait and see if they even go on sale.

I'd also like to find a bigger marker pouch of some sort; the one I have is already too small for all the markers I've got. Not an immediate "need", though.

Alex and I were talking about fixing up my Staedtler-Mars drafting table at some point, so I can finally have a better drawing setup. Back in 2004 his then-boss was giving it away, so Alex took me there to look at it and see if I'd be interested. As is right now, it's just the base (a massive and heavy metal base, mind you), so we'd have to get the top made. Alex wants to repaint it and make the top animation-friendly, which I think should be cool (and it's very sweet of him!). I look forward to whenever it'll be done :)

While Alex was at his haircut appointment today, I made a feeble attempt at doing some observational drawing...and ack, painful. I felt like a toddler doing chicken scratches. Must practice more!! It's weird how I feel a bit more confident and less self-conscious when I'm sketching animals rather than people, so as a result my animal drawings end up better. Gotta work on that too.

Went rock climbing tonight at 6, and overall I had a good time. I took on a few climbs that I enjoy but struggle with, and tonight somehow I hardly struggled at all! Hooray to getting better (even if it's baby steps)!

Um...I guess that's it so far.
