Summary: He was supposed to plan Yunho’s wedding, not fall in love with him.

“One day left.” Jaejoong said aloud as he looked at his calendar. The date was encircled in red, and he let out a sigh as he leaned back into his chair and shut his eyes. He breathed in deeply, finally feeling some peace. For the most part, everything was perfectly set into place.

Ara and Geun Suk were back together, all the preparations were set, and as far as he could see and was concerned, tomorrow would be the day of the most perfect wedding in history. His phone began to ring loudly, and Jaejoong sat up and frowned. He wasn’t expecting any calls. His heart began to pound in his chest, and he could feel his stress coming back.

Was something wrong?

Jaejoong bit his lip and shut his eyes, uttering a quick prayer before he reached over to grab his phone off his desk. He glanced at the caller and let out a sigh of relief when it wasn’t Yunho’s name on the screen and then picked up the call.

“Hello Ara, what’s up?”

“Hey Jaejoong. Would you mind if I visited you today?” she asked lightly, and Jaejoong could faintly hear someone on the other end of the line whispering something to her.

The wedding planner leaned forward and looked around his desk for his planner, “Just wait a bit, I’ll see if I’m free.” He found the notebook and flipped through it, and after making sure he was free, he replied. “I’m available. What time will you -“

“I’ll be coming over now.”

“Oh, okay.” Jaejoong said slowly, “Any reason behind this sudden visit?” he questioned, becoming slightly suspicious of the whole situation. “I mean, it’s not that I don’t want to see you or anything, but…with everything that’s happened lately, I can’t help but be worried that something’s gone wrong.”

“No, don’t worry.” Ara replied quickly. “Nothing’s wrong. I’ll see you in a bit, alright Jaejoong? I have to go now.”

“Sure -“

Ara hung up, and Jaejoong groaned. He leaned back into his chair and covered his face with his hands. He sighed loudly and as much as he wanted to trust Ara that nothing had gone wrong, he was still suspicious and his suspicions refused to go away. Deciding that he needed something to calm himself down, Jaejoong called Changmin.

“What now?” Changmin muttered. “Are you so lazy that you can’t just go outside of your office and tell me what you want?”

Jaejoong sighed, “I need ice cream - one pint should be fine.”

“Are you a child? It’s eleven in the morning…do you really need it?” The younger man questioned over the phone. “Your schedule’s free, isn’t it? Why don’t you just go and get your own ice cream? There’s a convenience store less than a block away from here, and I know you know how to get there -“

“Changmin, as your boss, I am insisting that you go over to the convenience store and get me ice cream.”

The younger man huffed and gave in. “Fine, I’ll get your stupid ice cream. Give me five minutes to get it.”

“Thank you.”

“Asshole.”

“Did you really just call me that?” Jaejoong said with a laugh. “I’m your boss you know.”

“I know.” Changmin replied before he hung up on Jaejoong.
o-o-o

Jaejoong ate his ice cream slowly and kept his eyes focused on the wall clock. He savored the sweetness in his mouth and could feel the treat helping him out already. Just as the clock signaled that it was eleven twenty, there was a knock at his office door. He quickly took his feet off his table, set his half-eaten pint of ice cream down on his desk and wiped at the corners of his lips.

“Yes?”

“Ara’s here to see you.” Changmin said from the outside before he opened the door and let her in. He narrowed his eyes at Jaejoong before he shut the door once more, but the wedding planner merely ignored the glare and stood up to greet his guest. He held out his hand, and Ara shook it before she sat down onto the chair in front of Jaejoong’s work table.

She was dressed rather prettily, and Jaejoong couldn’t help but notice the slight glowing aura that she seemed to have taken on since the last time he’d seen her. He smiled at her and clasped his hands together.

“So, why did you want to meet me?” he asked, putting a smile on his face in the hopes that Ara wouldn’t tell him something that could have him sprouting grey hairs.

Ara shifted her seat then spoke. “I don’t think you know how grateful I am to you for everything that’s happened. Of course there’s Yunho to thank, but I am also incredibly thankful that you’ve done so much for me even though you don’t have the same kind of attachment to me that Yunho does. You’ve gone out of your way for me many times, and I really appreciate everything.”

Jaejoong smiled, “Well, I love happy endings I guess…and I have a personality that makes me meddle into things.” He laughed and Ara laughed as well. “But you’re welcome, really. I’m happy that you and Geun Suk are back together.”

“Thank you.” Ara tucked back a strand of her hair and cleared her throat began she began to talk once more. “We spent all of last night talking and after we’d gotten everything straightened out, we decided to pay a visit to my father.”

Jaejoong sat up in his seat and looked at her worriedly. “And? What did he say?”

“Well, he was unsurprisingly still disapproving.” Ara explained, “But the way he acted was an improvement in comparison to what happened in the past. He…he wasn’t as angry, but he still disapproves. I guess Geun Suk’s new position in life has made him slightly more open to the idea.”

“I guess that’s an improvement…” Jaejoong said slowly.

Ara shrugged, “Yes, I guess so, but I still want to try to get him to become more welcoming of the idea. I don’t know how I’m going to do that, but Yunho has showed me that I shouldn’t give up on things anymore, that it’s best I fight for the things I want.”

Jaejoong nodded in agreement then replied, “That’s a good thing to know now, but what about tomorrow? Does he know that you two -“

Ara’s smile faltered slightly and she shot an apologetic look to Jaejoong. “That’s actually what I wanted to talk to you about.” She cleared her throat, and Jaejoong saw that she was wringing her hands together nervously. “Geun Suk and I have decided that we’ll get married at some other time.”

Jaejoong stared at her, too shocked to say a single word, so Ara used the fact he’d been stunned into silence to keep talking.

“It’s not just about my father,” Ara explained. “After we’d talked last night, we realized that marriage wasn’t something to be rushed into. We’ve been apart for a while, and we didn’t want to just head straight into it. As much as we love each other, both of us came to the conclusion that we could just get married at another time, because no matter what, our child would be born into our little family filled with love anyway.”

The wedding planner still had nothing to say, so Ara kept talking. “We want to plan a wedding with both of us involved. This wedding has been incredibly rushed, and I’m sure you can recognize that. As much as we appreciate everything you’ve done for us, when we have our own wedding, we want it to be something that both of us have put effort into - not something that Yunho and I tried to throw together in order to please my father.”

“So…”

“We won’t be getting married tomorrow,” Ara said slowly as she led Jaejoong into understanding what she was telling him. “But, we’ll still carry on with the reception and just turn it into some kind of party to celebrate our relationship. It’d be a waste for us to simply cancel everything.”

“Oh.”

The younger woman looked at him with a sincere and apologetic expression. “I really am sorry about this Jaejoong…but, I do hope that you’d come tomorrow regardless of everything. You’ve had such a huge part in getting us back together; it would really be a shame if you didn’t make it.”

Jaejoong let out a sigh and nodded. Although he was still stunned that he’d gone through such an effort to get the two together, he could understand their reason behind postponing the wedding. The wedding planning was supposed to an effort of both the bride and the groom, and seeing as Geun Suk hadn’t had much of a part to play in anything until recently, he could grasp why they’d simply have the wedding some other time instead.

After all, as long as they were happy together, then that was what mattered most...even if that meant quite a bit of his wedding planning activities had gone to some waste.

“I understand.” Jaejoong said as he smiled back at Ara. He picked up his phone and looked through the numbers he had to call, “I should go and cancel some things then or else -“

“Don’t worry.” Ara said brightly. “I’ve already done everything for you. I didn’t want to hassle you any further, so I’ve gone through the duty of taking care of everything that needed to be taken care of.”

“Oh, thank you.”

“I really am incredibly grateful to you Jaejoong,” Ara spoke softly as she placed her hands over her womb. She stared down for a few seconds before she lifted her eyes up and smiled at him. “Without you, I really don’t think I’d be feeling as happy as I do now.”

Jaejoong smiled, “You’re welcome. I’ll definitely come tomorrow, don’t worry.”

No matter what, at the end of the day, he was someone that enjoyed giving people help so that they could start another phase that would lead to their happy endings. Although the wedding wasn’t going to happen, at least he could be satisfied knowing that he’d once again been a part in helping another couple in leading the kind of life that so many were still looking for.

“Oh, but one thing.”

Ara tilted her head, “Yes?”

“Please don’t let me explain the situation to anyone at the party tomorrow.” Jaejoong said with a laugh as he met Ara’s gaze. “I told my assistant about everything yesterday, and…let’s just say that he went into some kind of information overload.”

Ara laughed and smiled brightly, “Don’t worry. You’ve done so much for me. I’ll take care of everything else.”
o-o-o

Changmin yawned and looked at his watch tiredly. Jaejoong had escorted Ara out of the building, and from what he could remember, they’d be going out for lunch together, leaving him alone in the office. He rubbed at his eyes and contemplated going out to get something to eat. After all, it was close to twelve and it was more than just his right to go out and take his lunch break.

He drummed his fingers on his desk and glanced at his phone. After receiving annoying texts from Park Yoochun for the couple of days, he was a little surprised that the other man hadn’t sent him anything the entire day. Just as Changmin was about to text one of his friends to ask if they were free, his phone suddenly started to ring.

Changmin picked up his phone, and when he saw the name on the screen, his lips formed a straight line.

Park Yoochun Deciding that he was bored and had nothing to lose, Changmin picked up his phone and answered the call. “What do you want now?” he asked as he continued to drum his fingers onto his desk restlessly. “The wedding -“

“The wedding is not happening, so we can go out now.” Yoochun finished, and Changmin’s frowned.

“What?”

“Haven’t you heard?” The other man asked, “They cancelled the wedding. Ara and Geun Suk are going to get married some other time, when they get to have everything they want and how they would want it to be. It’s some pretty crazy shit if you ask me,” Yoochun rambled, “When Yunho explained everything to me last night, I thought he was drunk or something.”

Changmin scowled, and he wrote a mental note to berate Jaejoong later for leaving him out of the loop. If there was one thing he hated more than the feeling of being hungry, it was the feeling of not knowing things.

“Didn’t your boss tell you?”

“No, he didn’t.” Changmin growled, “What an asshole.”

Yoochun laughed. “If you want, I can come over and pick you up for lunch. I will gladly tell you about everything I know while we eat. I’m hungry, and I have a feeling that you haven’t eaten yet. What do you like? French? Japanese? Indian? Name anything and -“

“Are you asking me out again?”

The other man laughed across the line, “The answer is quite obviously yes.” Yoochun replied, “Seeing as you and I are not connected in any way anymore, I don’t think it’d be unprofessional for me to ask you out, right?”

Changmin considered the proposal for a few seconds before he replied, “I want to eat Japanese food today. Don’t be late. You have five minutes.”
o-o-o

Jaejoong was relaxing at home, contentedly digging into another pint of vanilla ice cream, when his doorbell rang. He cringed and considered not answering it. After all, before he’d left the office, Changmin had managed to guilt and to bully him into treating him out for dinner because he’d forgotten to tell him about everything. Needless to say, the younger man had left quite a dent in his wallet, and he was not looking forward to a repeat of that incident.

Instead of answering the door, Jaejoong simply turned up the volume of his television and hoped that Changmin would leave him alone. However, after a minute or so, the person at his door began to press his doorbell incessantly. Jaejoong groaned and stood up, quickly making his way over to the front door so that he could greet Changmin with a punch to his face.

Jaejoong swung the door open, ready to strike, but he froze when he realized that Yunho was standing in the hallway. He quickly put his hand down and swallowed hard, his cheeks reddening as he realized what kind of position the other man had caught him in.

“Hi.” Yunho said softly. “Ara told me she visited you today?”

The wedding planner nodded and scratched his neck uncomfortably. “Yeah, she did. She explained everything to me in my office, and then we had lunch together afterwards.”

“Ah, I see.”

They stood in an awkward silence, and Jaejoong continued to stare at his feet. He wasn’t sure about what he was supposed to say to Yunho, and he didn’t even know what the other man was doing at his apartment anyway. In the midst of his pig out and relaxation session, he’d been trying to think of what he would say to Yunho at the party, but now that the other man was here, all his thoughts had flown out the window.

“Uhm, yeah…” Jaejoong cleared his throat awkwardly and forced a smile, hoping that Yunho could just say something and spare him from any awkwardness. “So, why are you here? It’s not that you know, I didn’t want to see you anything…it’s just…a little weird you know.”

Yunho looked down and nodded, “Yeah, I know. I’m sorry,” he smiled apologetically and chuckled, “Well…I just wanted to thank you, for everything you’ve done. I figured that I wanted to thank you as soon as possible…which is why I came now instead of later.”

Jaejoong nodded in understanding. “Really, it’s no problem. Like I told Ara earlier, I’m the kind of person that wants people to end up happy and -“

Before Jaejoong could finish his sentence, Yunho had leaned forward and placed a soft kiss against his lips. His eyes widened significantly, and his mind was sent spinning even though the kiss hadn’t lasted for that long. The wedding planner opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out, and he ended up gaping at the other man like a fish.

“I’ve wanted to do that again for a while now.”

“Oh,” Jaejoong breathed out, his cheeks turn redder than they already were.

“Well, I also figured that you deserved a better kiss to remember then the one that happened before...back when you thought Ara and I were still together and I was cheating on her with you.” Yunho explained, a slight blush creeping across his cheeks. He cleared his throat awkwardly and loosened the collar of his shirt. “Anyway, I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”

“…yeah.”

“Save me a dance?” Yunho asked, a smile playing at the corner of his lips. “Even though I’ve put you through so much stress and practically made you endure possibly the worst wedding planning procedure ever?”

Jaejoong finally regained his senses and shrugged. He tried to be nonchalant, but he knew there was a smile on his face. “I don’t know, we’ll see.” He replied before he shut the door on Yunho softly and leaned against the door, his heart pounding quickly in his chest. He let out a sigh and knocked his head against his door in frustration.

He hated how Jung Yunho was an expert at barging into his life and turning everything upside down. It seemed like with Yunho still intent on having him around, he wouldn’t be getting any peace any time soon - but for some reason, Jaejoong didn’t think he would mind that too much.
o-o-o

Just as he’d planned, everything went perfectly and looked perfect as well. Jaejoong admired the party’s location as he walked around. The lights gave a heavenly glow to the room, the flowers were beautiful, and everything looked appropriate. The cake looked good, and he was happy that there’d been enough time to make sure that it didn’t look too much like the wedding cake it was originally supposed to have been.

He watched as Geun Suk and Ara went around the room, probably explaining things to those who didn’t know about the whole thing, and when the couple turned in his direction, he smiled and waved at them. They waved back and just as they’d been about to head in his direction, a group of people went over to them and distracted their attention.

Jaejoong chuckled and continued on his way, still admiring everything. It was something he did at all the events he’d planned. He liked seeing the product of all his hard work, and needless to say, although the wedding hadn’t gone through, he was still happy with how the party was going.

As he made his way around, Jaejoong paused when he saw Changmin standing next to a man he presumed to be Park Yoochun. The other man had a plate of food in his hand, and Jaejoong watched as Changmin ate off it and rolled his eyes at whatever Yoochun was saying.

A pair of hands settled on his shoulders, and Jaejoong turned around.

Yunho smiled at him, and Jaejoong scowled. “It’s not good to chance upon people like that you know.”

“I was actually supposed to go for your waist,” Yunho replied, a smile on his face. “But I figured it was bit too early for that.” He took his hands off Jaejoong’s shoulders and set them at his sides. “So…about last night.”

Yunho leaned in, and Jaejoong took a step back. His face was red, and he scowled at the taller man, “What are you -“

“You owe me a dance.” Yunho said with a smile.

Jaejoong pushed Yunho away and crossed his arms. “Don’t you think things should be going the other way around?” he smirked playfully and tilted his head, “After everything that’s happened, don’t you owe me?”

Yunho laughed, “What would you want then?”

“Peace, relaxation, a vacation?” Jaejoong said with a laugh. He smiled up at Yunho, and his smile widened as Yunho grinned back at him. “I don’t know, just…just don’t give me any more stress in life. You’ve already aged me by five years.”

“I can’t give you any promises. I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep them.”

Jaejoong frowned, “How lame. What can you give me then?”

“A kiss?”

The wedding planner laughed and pushed Yunho away. “I think I’d rather settle for a dance for now,” he said as he took hold of Yunho’s wrist and led him over to the dance floor. As soon as they were in the midst of all the dancing couples, Yunho set his hand at Jaejoong’s waist and held his other hand in his.

“Is this good enough to make up for all that stress?” Yunho asked as they started to sway to the music.

Jaejoong smiled, his heart fluttering in his chest, “I don’t know. Ask me in five minutes.”

As much as he loved doing his job and making sure people ended up with wonderful love stories, Jaejoong decided that it was time for him to push everything aside and focus on himself for a change. Although he wasn’t sure if this man in front of him, the handsome, insistent and stressful Jung Yunho, was the right man for him, something told him that now was the perfect time for him to start working on his own love story.
