Why are you doing this to me, Ruth? You prompt me for a new fandom or an interesting AU, and then it's like the idea's nailed into my brain. I'm coming up with a whole story for how they got here and the struggles they've had and what they're going to do a week, a month, a year from now.

This is not three sentences.They're making it work the best they can: George is doing construction (cash under the table) and tends bar a few nights a week, while David makes coffee and answers phones for an insurance company and picks up whatever short-term jobs he can
