those are two excellent images, with excellent plants, thank you as always for sharing them with us! and the poem is short but all the sweeter for that. i really like the unexpected line break before the end and the power to feel.
i hope you had a lovely halloween! i dressed up as a zebra but didn't do much trick-or-treating. instead, i bought a small container of ben and jerry's ice cream and shared it with my partner, and we listened to all the good murder musicals - carrie, marie christine, murder ballad, heathers, and next to normal (not murder, but still). i also set up my new laptop who's definitely a girl, and possibly named star child.
gosh, i can totally see you as a teacher's assistant, i bet the kids love to have conversations with you. what age and subject have you been working with?
Sorry to butt in, but given the murder musicals and your laptop's possible name, I have to ask - do you know Ghost Quartet? Because if you don't, you should, it seems like you'd like it! And if you do, well, hi, person who knows Ghost Quartet. :)
I didn't know Ghost Quartet, but I just looked it up and it looks really cool! There weren't very many songs on youtube and the sound quality was a bit funky, but I like what I've heard. Do you know where I can find the music? (I just looked it up and you're the reason I have Marie Christine, because I saw the post where you'd recommended it to Kylee, so I definitely trust you on this one too)
The name Star Child is actually because she's aluminum which is new and exciting for me, and then i kept thinking of that one newspaper ad that starts "STAR CHILD: ARE YOU LISTENING?" that's been going around tumblr.
You can listen to all of it here! There are two versions - I recommend the live album, since it has some spoken scenes left off the studio one. The plot gets super twisted and confusing even with the scenes. Also there are lyrics here, annotated by Dave Malloy, who wrote the show. (He also wrote Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, which I recommend even more highly. It has a much more straightforward plot, based on a few chapters of War and Peace.) (And yay, Marie Christine! Happy to have introduced you to it.)
today i told myself i was going to make time for things i enjoyed and things that were good for me, no matter what, so it's time for a chat with lizzie. i'm so pleased you liked the plant pictures! the purple waffle plant (that's what it's called!) is still looking lovely, too. i want to put in a terrarium or a wardian case to keep the air humid, but it seems happy in a tiny terracotta pot on the shelf for now, and because the stems are so straight and long it looks like a small purple tree. you know, that poem made me think of the song 'human experience,' and of mindfulness practice in general. living as a feeling being is difficult, but rilke really brings out the strange sublime power of it.
aaah i love the sound of your halloween, i think you spent it in the best way. and also the most you way, you and your partner listening to all those murder musicals. and you were a zebra? :D how did you pull that together? were there stripes? was there a hat? one of the kiddoes had an adorable sheep hat for his costume, just a black

doing nice things for ourselves is a very good idea, and I'm grateful that you reached out to me, and also a bit flattered that i'm someone you thought of. i don't trust myself to take care of plants, but it's so great that you seem to have a whole world of growing things around you. in my mind's eye you always have some kind of plant nearby, actually.
it is a very "me" way, isn't it? i had a lot of fun, but it was also a normal low-key night, but that was perfect. There was indeed a hat, and it was one i already owned from a truck stop. It has eyes, nose, ears, and a bit of yarn at the top for the mane and it's really cute. Then I wore pinstripe leggings and a cute semi-translucent striped top over a tanktop, and i pranced around occasionally.
oh, they're tiny children, that's so cute! and child-directed thinking like a scientist lessons, ahhh, that's precious. i'm being totally sincere here when i say that cheered me up a lot and gave me hope. And kiddos learning to participate with each other and to be gentle when that's needed,
