Elk Questions

I've found a lot of good information about Elk, but one thing I can't find is whether or not you could ride them like horses, or use them as pack animals. I'm assuming you could use one as a pack animal at least, as they are pretty big and solid animals (assuming you could tame it that it), but would the antlers get in the way of riding? Could you maybe ride a female?

If anyone knows I would be greatful :)

EDIT: I was thinking American Elk, but it sounds like it wouldn't work. Thanks!
