Old-ish cars?

What kind of car would be owned by a middle-aged American man who was born somwhere in the early fifties? I'm looking for something from between 1960 and 1989, and not too sporty. Just an ordinary car owned by a reasonably well-off man (though not an executive or anything).

Alright, I haven't quite decided on what kind of job this man has, but I was thinking along the lines of a very successful mechanic or something like that. He lives in New England.

Model and make would be great, pics would be absolutely fanastic. =D
