Does it make you feel any better to know this has been f--ed up for over 20 years?

Because my mother changed her name (she was my custodial parent for purposes of tax and loans) and I changed my name and became an independent student (when I got married) in the same term, the student loan company managed to somehow change my name to her name on some documents and vice versa.

This snowballed and ended up with both of us having to go to the Social Security office with all our identity documentation and prove that we were two separate people and which of us went with which SSN and that neither of us were trying to defraud the government. This was Nov 1990-March 1991.
