We flew out yesterday. There were dire warnings on the Weather Channel about airport delays, but we had no trouble with that. Our plane out of Chattanooga was a tiny turbo-prop. There was some gnarly turbulance coming into Charlotte, but everything else was fine - Charlotte is a very nice airport, and an hour was just about the right amount of time to spend there. (This was better we had originally expected - we had a 2 hour layover planned - and significantly better than we feared - on our way out, US Airways tried to give us a 5 hour layover instead. 1 hour was much much better.)
I got a pat down in Chattanooga. In order to get baby food onto the plane without opening the jar to test it, they needed to pat down someone. It was a little harrowing, but not hideous. The thing is, Lora didn't have to get patted down on the way out of Syracuse, even though the same baby food came with us to Chattanooga - indeed, there was more of it on the way out than there was on the way back. Very odd.
Anyway, we arrived back home in a rain storm, which just got bigger and heavier over night. By 2 pm this afternoon, the county had declared a state of emergency, and the college was closed - so I'm home again, without teaching today, and Lora is home early. Luckily, I have a "make up" day already scheduled in the syllabus, because it looks like I'll need it.
