We're in it for the money, all the groupie honies.

Let it be known that I got just as worried as anyone at word that Disney has bought Marvel, and what that's going to mean for our favourite superheroes and whatnot.

Seriously. My first thoughts ran much along the line of Mercedes' (who I hope will forgive me for quoting her here):
Marvel is about violence and women in very skimpy clothes and who's ( Read more... )

The point about Miramax is true, which is a reassuring thought and gives hope that Miley, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and the JoBros aren't going to become a "re-invented" version of Gen X.

However, I've also seen the point made that Disney could just be all "LOL WE OWN YUSE!!" and not do anything with Marvel. Which then begs the question: would Disney letting Marvel continue down the road it's on and being very laissez-faire about owning Marvel be worse than Disney injecting even a little bit of it's brand into Marvel? And since I kind of can't decide, I'm rooting for the "Aw man, this is gonna be awesome!" turn of events.

And as for the quoting thing, feel free! No forgiving needed; I'm actually tickled pink you did so!

I'm hoping that Disney is going pretty much hands off, and let the creative teams at Marvel keep doing their own thing. If anything though, this could mean that there's possibly going to be more money behind Marvel now, which can only bode well for them. Notice how well Pixar has been doing with Disney backing them? We can only hope that with the Mouse Empire behind Marvel, there's pure awesome and great things in the future.

If, however, they do make the Disney Children the next GenX? I will be among the first to take up my pitchfork.

(Thanks for the reassurance regarding the quote. You made a good -- and funny! -- point there, and it summed up my thoughts better than I could have probably articulated them. The fact that you're tickled pink just makes it even better.)

That's because Eisner is no longer behind the wheel.

As pointed out in that conversation you had with slickmeister. The more you know, right? :)

*dies a little on the inside with glee* OHYESITWAS.

Pee-Ess: If I had the money, and if I could actually pull that off working in a classroom, I would be getting that done SO EFFING HARD. Thank you for sharing that, because I just made a noise that I'm pretty sure was only audible to my dogs. EEEEE!

I'm going to consult him re: my geeky tattoo.

CONSULT AWAY. And report back! Because HOLY SHIT his stuff looks crazy-good.

(And, y'know, apparently sees the warped world of Alice in Wonderland that I have in my head, but that's a whole other aside. *sighs* As much as I love my career, it rather limits me somewhat with regards to body modification in any way.)

This is why I'm getting mine around the shoulder blade area. Easily hidden by scrubs. BC's a pretty liberal place. I'm sure as long as you have it covered up most of the time, it's fine. I had teachers with tats on their toes and biceps and I went to a Catholic school. ;)

My super-plot is a shoulder blade tattoo as well. I don't think I could survive with my full arms covered up constantly though, which is why a full sleeve would probably be out of the question, no matter HOW awesome.

(I actually thought about a half-sleeve for a while, and it's something I'm still toying with. Sort of. Same with an industrial piercing, a nose-stud...*grins* Had I my way, I would be far more pierced than I am, and would be sporting a lot of ink. However, my medical history and previous heart operation say no. For now. FOR NOW. I pretty much cling to this. Once I get the doctor's okay, you can bet your ass that I'm heading straight to a tattoo parlour for a consultation.)

As in, what I’d ideally like on my body?
When I was a wee thing, I had open heart surgery. They went in through my back by detaching my shoulder or something (if you pay attention, to this very day the way it moves is a little ‘off’). This has left me with a crazy scar all around my shoulderblade. I want this scar made in to a tree branch with the Cheshire Cat sitting on it, and Alice a little further down my back looking up at him. Stylistically, I have wavered between staying strictly true to the original illustration, or adding some American McGee’s Alice influence. Right now I’m leaning more toward the classic look.

And even though I’ve always thought hip-bone tattoos were kind of trashy, as of late I’ve been planning to get a spade on mine. As in a playing card spade. I kind of want it to be stylized, what with detailing that recalls Victorian swirls (see here) and classic playing card imagery. I have a whole book that I purchased - “Antique Playing Cards: A Pictorial History” - just for this ( ... )
