A grin of shadows press my face. I am a forger or a fake.

The lovely Mercedes introduced this meme, and I've decided to help it 'make the rounds' as it were.

Give me the name of one of my ships. I’ll put my MP3 player on shuffle and make a graphic based on the song. (Optional: I'll also write drabbles for each ship/song combo.)The usual fandoms are open for business ( Read more... )

i spend too much time online, percy fails at life again, with friends like these, fanfic, shut up music is my boyfriend

I shall have to return to this sometime next month when I might have two seconds to myself. :(

But in the meantime, how about some semi-incestuous Juliet/Tybalt? (either the Zeferelli movie version, the one with DiCaprio and Danes, or straight-up text based)

Ooooh, darling, you just hit on my favourite ship in the entire play...specifically in the Zeferelli version.
I adore me some Romeo/Mercutio too, oddly enough.
Expect to see your story soon.

I read this reply this morning while at work, and bounced up and down with excited eagerness!

Tybalt has grown up looking out for his little cousin. It's what's expected of him. Not that he really needs much encouragement - it’s Juliet, and that’s all the reason he needs. He’s her self-appointed shadow, and he loves her. She’s his cousin. She’s Juliet.
Love.
That’s dangerous word and a slippery slope. Those slopes by their very nature are difficult to navigate, but he tries. For the most part, he even manages to trick himself into thinking he’s got it all under control. Juliet needs someone to look out for her, and that’s him. That’s all.
His efforts suddenly seem to mean nothing once he sees her at the ball. His attempts to be the good man start to fail when he sees her dancing with Paris (it’snotjealousyit’snotjealousy), not when he realizes the Montagues have crashed the party, and not when he sees that bastard Romeo looking at her like thatShe’s changed after the ball. She smiles more, smiles differently ( ... )

Oh, Christ Almighty, YES.

This is exactly the subtext that Michael York puts out there, even in a time when acting was frequently overdone or wooden (Thanks, Olivier).

And the last line?

This is even more exactly what tragedy is ALL ABOUT.

I'm going to read it again RIGHT NOW.

You'll have to excuse me. I'm a little busy doing a victory dance of the "I DONE GOOD" variety over here.

Heh. You may also be interested to know that I've got the final final edits done on "Conflict of Interests".

The question becomes, do I share it now, or be a tease until tomorrow afternoon?

If you share it now, I will devour it IMMEDIATELY despite the fact that this is a gaming and company night. Please, do not consider this a deterrent.

If you share it tomorrow afternoon, I will read it either (a) as soon as I get home or (b) as soon as... well, actually, there's no (b), as I have to run a Forensics practice and then go pick up my new glasses after work, so getting home will actually be quite late, too late to take what will be a desperately needed nap anyway, so I'll read CoI at once in that case too.

Maybe it depends how soon you want comments, and how coherent you would like for them to be, yes?

Patience has never been a strong suit of mine. And I'm far too excited not to share it right now. I don't even know why the hell I was even asking.

Heeeee. Eyes open, doll. Five minutes or less.
