But it is such a perfect place to start, my love.

I admit it.

I am a bad, bad James Bond fan. I may have grown up with Pierce Brosnan's Bond, and fallen in love with Daniel Craig's take on him (though 'Quantum of Solace' is still...euh. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it based on what I've heard, and my desire to NOT have Craig!Bond ruined for me). I have not, however, seen any of the ( Read more... )

Is it wrong that my favorite Bond movie is 'Of her majesty's secret service' specifically because of the models curling scene?

Not wrong at all.

In fact, I'm even intrigued. Models? Curling? As in, catwalk ladies playing shuffleboard-on-ice?

Yes and Yes. Though they may just have been random beautiful ladies playing shuffleboard on ice.

There was this mountaintop base where they were collected for some reason.

I remember a mountain. Ladies. And Curling. That's about it. So clearly it's my favorite.

Now I have to see this one ASAP. If only because our unofficial national sport is in it.
(I come from a family of curlers on my mother's side. I'm the first generation to fail horribly at it.)

Completely Unacceptable. That needs to be fixed ASAP.

Cue training montage.

I've always been sorta fascinated with curling and I've always wanted to give it a go. Unfortunately I've never been that close to a curling rink.

That's what my mum said, albeit jokingly.

Apparently, I slide well. My problem (according to the teacher/trainer/whoever) is that I can't turn the rock properly as I release it. I flick my wrist in this weird way that makes it so my rocks don't end up where I want them. Jewels is way better at it.

Curling IS a really interesting sport once you appreciate what's going on. The family gathers 'round the television for the "Tournament of Hearts" -- the biggest bonspiel in Canada -- every year because we are dorks. It always looks so slow and repetitive, but it's so fascinating to watch the high-calibre players do their thing.

Training montage? That's only okay if I get 'Eye of the Tiger' in the background.

There has to be some good wrist flicking exercises out there. Things that can't be hurt by rocking some Survivor.
