I posted a couple weeks ago about plans for my second literary tattoo, a version of Arthur Rackham's illustration for the fairy tale of the Bremen Town Musicians. Last week I went and got it!

This is a few hours post-tattoo so it's a little bumpy, and my arm's not at an ideal angle to show it off, but it's the best picture I have so far.

I walked into my appointment still unsure about placement, thinking it would go either on a shoulder or on my side, but it ended up on my upper arm. I wasn't planning on such a "visible" spot but once my artist put the transfer on and I took a look in the mirror, I knew it couldn't go anywhere else! Needless to say I LOVE IT. I had tossed around a few ideas on modifying the image a bit, but in the end all we did was flip it so I could have it on my right arm with the animals still looking forward (in the original illustration the're facing to the left).

Non-literary note: as a fat girl with body issues, I have to say, this tatto is making me feel badass. I already feel more confident about wearing sleeveless shirts and dresses - not that I'll be doing that any time soon, gotta let this sucker heal first, but I can't wait to show it off! And take a better picture, once it settles in.
