advice?

I have a Le Petit Prince tattoo on my arm (very similar to one posted a month or two ago) that I got as a black outline, because that's kind of my style (I have 3 tattoos and no color thus far). However, I find it a little too... minimalistic? I don't know. The point being, I want to get it filled in.
I'm just looking for some input in how to do this. Because I got it as an outline, there is extra room and the picture has been slightly modified from the original.
Here are the drawings from the book:
Here are pictures of my tattoo:
Here are my dilemmas:
1) I want to fill in the bottom one (the "hat").
2) If I fill in the bottom, the top will look unfinished.
3) Because there is a solid border all around the elephant in my tattoo that is not present in the book I'm unsure about what to do with the boa. If I fill in the elephant grey and leave the boa as is it may still look "unfinished."
Ideas?
