First off, anyone know an artist/place around Boston good with text? I've looked at a few places, but there doesn't seem to be anyone who does a lot of text work.
That said,
First off, I definitely want the compass/spiral from the front of House of Leaves, as you can see here.
But I also want this paragraph from Hallucinating Foucault:
"You asked me what I fear most. Not the loss of my power to write. Not that. Composers fear deafness, yet the greatest of them heard his music with the drums of his nerves, the beat in the blood. My writing is a craft, like carpentry, coffin-building, making jewelery, constructing walls. You cannot forget how it is done. You can easily see when it is done well. You can adjust, remake, rebuild what is fragile, slipshod, unstable."
So I was trying to think of ways to tie the two together. My first thought was something like this, kind of biomechanical flavored, where the bits coming off of the spiral pull away to reveal the text underneath the skin --
I like the sort of "peeling" look of that tattoo to reveal the text underneath, but I was wondering what people thought of instead having the little offshoots off of the House of Leaves compass/spiral gradually "bleed" into the text of Hallucinating Foucault? Or any other ideas you might have to tie the two pieces together. Thanks guys!
