I've got a new foster kitty. He was brought to the shelter with frostbite so they had to cut off the tips of his ears. His stitches come out in a week so I may only have him that long. All he does is hide in dark corners. If I am standing above him, he cowers but he doesn't really run. When I pick him up he burrows his pointy nose into the crook of my elbow or under my chin. I worries me that his only concern seems to be finding a safe, comforting place.
I would rather keep him two weeks so that maybe he can relax a bit before going to the adoption floor. I just picked him up on Friday. So far I just pull him out of his corner once in a while to give him a cuddle and administer his medicine and massage his paws with cream to help them recover from the frostbite.
I am anxiously awaiting a time when he will roam around freely and maybe even play but I know I have to let him go at his own pace.
