So, I came home for the slightly-longer-than-usual-weekend.
And promptly got sicker than I can possibly express. I ended up in bed, and disturbingly enough, captive to the neuroses of my collected household. Featuring such gems as my mother's complete conviction that everyone who has visited lately (my father, the workers and her cousin) has been secretly unplugging the freezer, in a vindictive move to get her to buy less food, and throw out the side of venison we've been keeping, naturally. Or the boarder's secret marriage, which...has actually provided almost no drama at all. Well, except for the inevitable visit from the INS. I think the best moment of all might have been my mother's version of comfort and thoughtfulness over my recent depression, where she tactfully slipped pictures into her a slideshow of her most recent trip, of someone in hospital who had cut their wrists, and kindly pointed out how much blood there was.
Yes really.
Because my feelings are important. Or something; the cough syrup is making it rather difficult to make my brain go.
brand new heroRPF: Panic! At The Disco/Fall Out Boy by
provetheworstThis is a really engaging AU; Brendon's an artist, and there's a neat system of counterparts. I like the Pete characterization here, especially, and it's not too angsty, and not too sweet. Really good.
(
here are notes and outtakes.)
Stress ReliefRPF: Fall Out Boy/My Chemical Romance by
violentfiresOh, Frank, how so awesome? This is a wonderful little college AU, and I adore Patrick here, as well.
But SweeterRPF: Panic! At The Disco by
dsudisThis is adorable and funny. Brendon's homesick, and Ryan's pretty damn enterprising. Spencer is the voice of reason, and Jon is just freaked out. Hilarious little conceit, and come on, people, you are telling me that jello isn't a vegetable?
Scars and StoriesRPF: Fall Out Boy by
strangecobwebsFabulous. Pete sees the end of Jeanae and Pete, and starts Pete and Patrick, namesmush and all. Really good; emotionally resonant, funny, sexy and dramatic. It reads like reality, and I really wish it had happened this way. Really, it's my personal canon. In-character, with all the things we love about them, and there's bitchiness, and late-nights, and feelings, and sex. Yes, yes, YES.
Wow, Semagic is actually kind of magical.
Now, to go see how awesome at signing up for ficathons I am, especially while muddled and a little high. As usual, I urge everyone in creative fandom to sign up for
yuletide and not just because I really love writing the name. Well, that too:
yuletide,
yuletide,
yuletide and
yuletide. In addition to a fun name, it is also an awesome time, and I see that I have listed a truly absurd number of fandoms, and come on, group insanity! You want to write heart-rendingly beautiful fic about an obscure science-fiction series, right? Or even some good romance for your favourite book from grade school?
I imagine I will be able to participate in life in a few moments. Where moments are defined by hours.
