Hah, I have work that I should be doing. I really should be doing it. But first...yesterday was a Friday, and after hanging about with some friends, I went and watched "Stargate." Of both varieties.
Alright, so I only saw...three- quarters of "SG-1" but still, I am not watching if for the fine and nuanced plot. I am watching for the subtext, and there's no way that this is bad. Seriously, er, well, there was one scene with both Jack and Daniel in it. And there were lots of people distracting from the HoYay. Which would've been unfortunate, had there not been lusty glances shooting all around. Honestly, there's no way that these two aren't canon.
Anyway, I didn't find that episode particularly interesting, even though there was some amusing "We are aliens, but curiously, use human interactions and social attitudes" things. Or maybe it's the sci-fi junkie in me speaking, but I'd like my aliens to really be...alien. Oh well, I guess I can't have everything.
And, then, Atlantis! This show is just fun, especially when the subtext doesn't even bother to stay hidden. It's like "hi, I'll be working under your desk today, but the camera will cut sharply to us as I stand up. However, we'll both have maniacal grins on our faces." It's just too easy.
Also? Who didn't see this plot coming? Me. Although, in my defence, I figured it out about halfway through. Maybe it was the fact that the personnel was all wrong (hi, Hammond!)though, er, that happened before I figured anything out. Er, well.
Also, Ford? You must wear a hat. At all times. Because without the hat, your eyebrows are not hidden. And it's just scary.
That was exceedingly useless. And there's only one episode left in the season! Although the time- slot is going to be taken over by "Andromeda." Which is the show that has been created by stealing my brainwaves. Seriously. Roddenberry hacked into my brain, and lifted this out. Which is not a bad thing at all.
