I finally did it. I took the plunge and bought the first three seasons of Supernatural. So, let's see if I like it as much as my flist. No spoiling me, but if you want, you're welcome to tell me what you thought about episode one. My thoughts (written as I watched) are below the cut.

Yay, I am so squeeing right now, that you're watching my fave show! Okay, so I've complained lately about the quality in the latter seasons, but I still SO LOVE the first few seasons of this show, and I love Sam and Dean like burning, sigh, flaws and all. In my life there have been only a handful of shows that have really grabbed me from the start (and this will reveal how OLD I am, sigh!)--classic Trek (cheesy as hell but my first real fandom), Starsky and Hutch, The X Files, and Supernatural. So I really look forward to your reviews of each episode; at least I dearly hope you will continue with these, as I always adore hearing a new fan's take on the show. I've been in it almost from the first, and it's great to get a fresh perspective on it now that we're in season 7, yeesh! It's almost like that first blush of love all over again, reliving the eps through a new fan's eyes.

Yes! This! I love the early seasons, and reading/watching while someone experiences them for the first time is like being there again. <3

I wasn't sure anyone would care to hear my ramblings, but if y'all stick around, I'll be talking up a storm.

I have had a couple of people tell me that I'll be disappointed later, but you know, when I love the characters and hate the plot, that's often the very best fanfic fodder, so I'm not too worried about that. If the series can stand up with classics like ST:TOS and S&H, I'm looking forward to the ride.

Yeah, I thought they made some pretty big gaffes along the way with the major story arcs, sigh; but I am basically character driven, and my main focus has always been Sam and Dean and their journey. So even though some of the plot lines have had me shaking my head, over all I just see the 'story' each week as the peripheral vehicle carrying the boys along and allowing us to view events through their eyes and from their perspective. Watching the evolution (or seeming devolution, in some cases!) of their characters over the seasons and feeling invested in their soul journeys is what keeps me watching ( ... )
