Holiday Countdown Day 14

DAY FOURTEEN

Movie
How about a real chick flick for the holidays? Nothing get more chick flicker than "Love Actually," which is full of awwws and just as sappy as it gets. Yup, today's theme is 'sappy' and when I say sappy... you are gonna hate me after this. Mwahahahaaaaaa!

Book
First book in the sappy category is by an author that I've read a couple of times. If "Call Me Mrs. Miracle" is your first Debbie Macomber book, perfect! Give it a sappy shot. I read her yarn shop books and it seems to be the same story over and over again just with new names for the characters. I don't know if she does that with her other books or series, but hopefully not.

The next book is "The Christmas Box" by Richard Paul Evans. If I'm not mistaken there was a TV movie of this with Maureen O'Hara (who I adore). I don't remember though. Oh well. This has some good reviews though.

Another book that appears to be a sappy one is "The Christmas Clock" by Kat Martin. Again, mixed reviews on this, but oh well.

It was very hard to find books that weren't books you'd only find in the Christian lit section. So a word of warning, I don't know how religious these books are. I know I know, they're about Christmas a very important Christian holiday but it's nice to read books that aren't all dogma and one dimensional characters who's sole purpose is to either be the bad example ("oh she had a lot of friends and was a good person".... "But she didn't go to church? So what was good about her then?" I got duped into that book) or to be the perfect person. So really, read the reviews and if you're not sure... show the library some love and see if they're there. There will be plenty of books still in the countdown so don't worry about having nothing to read.

Song
I love Barry Manilow. While this may not be my favourite song of his, it does fit the bill of sappy today.

I like this one better by him.

Craft and Recipe
The recipe for today is "White Peppermint Snowballs" from Sandra Lee. I know it doesn't have a very good rating but most of the comments seem to be about how the cookies flatten out. Remember, liiiittle balls. I haven't tried this one and probably will in the future. So tell me if they're any good (I've been baking a lot for the last few recipes in the countdown, 25 different recipes to try in a month isn't doable, hence some that I haven't tried are in this.)

I've been trying to find instructions to make this ornament but I just can't. From the picture though, it looks easy enough. Let's see how your craft skills have come along and give this one a try.

Fanfiction
Here's a wonderfully sappy Xena story by Beowolf called "Solstice Eve." It always makes me smile. Awwwwwww....
