Work yesterday, blah blah. I'm worried that I'll run out of work because I finally finished this huge pile of data input so now I have no idea what I'm going to do all day ( Read more... )

I LOL'ed at hearing that the word "Floridian" amuses you greatly! And Star Wars reference FTW! you is awesome!

Ahhh, okay! LOL! I know totally what you mean about being too excited too add a word in. *grumbles* I just got windows 7 added back onto my computer (long story) and I had DL'ed the eps that David Tenant was in as the 10th Doctor, but apparently, the files did not copy over. FAIL. In any case, I'm working at downloading those again now. I've only seen a few of those episodes, the ones from the beginning-ish of his series with Rose.

I am into Doctor Who because the series itself just looks cool, is quirky, and a bit funky/campyish, in my opinion. I have nothing whatsoever against seeing old episodes and/or clips of Doctor Who, but trying to find time to do so will be most interesting indeed. :) So yes, I do think it's cool, and nothing against watching MOAR! if I have the time.

*bats away your attempt at reverse psychology* hey there nows! don't say that! You don't know if she could handle it or not until you try. If you try and she either doesn't like it or can't handle it, then you know. for all you know, she could fall in love with it like you and I. Personally, I think we should start her out with the 11th Doctor, if anything, because I mean, really, he's all sorts of adorkable and just haphazard, it's awesome.

Okay when you say 'young adult' what are you saying? I'm saying that one series has Greek mythology in it, where a boy finds out that he's half mortal, half god, has to deal with it, and is pretty sarcastic. He also takes out/stabs one of his teachers with a sword, which was totally awesome! The second is about a kick-butt heroine who lives in a world where every year, something called the Games are played, and twelve districts are required to submit 2 tributes up, and it all comes down to only one teenaged boy or girl surviving. It's quite angsty really, in my opinion.

And does it involve romance, cos if so I may throw up. Fair warning. Dude, then how the heck did you get through TWILIGHT of all things? This I must know, because there was a CRAPLOAD of romance in that series. Shoot, that's all it was about!

As far as romance goes, there is some, but it's not like you're reading a romance novel. It's pretty subtle in both series, I think. The series about Greek mythology is called Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan and the second one is called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. If you want, I can send you both series via email; the first series is finished with 5 books, the second one has 2 books out and the third comes out in August.

*shakes head* I wish that we did. That'd be so cool! You gotta remember hon, I live in the United States, so college is done a heck of a lot more differently than it is there. I'd love to get something like that and have all of these great books to discuss! And I can't wait to hear about the books that you're going to get to read! I look forward to interesting discussions about them! What are you majoring in, if you don't mind me asking??

Believe me, once we've talked you will find the time to see classic Who. And then particularly when you get to the current season you will notice some epic references to the former regenerations. FTW. And HOLY CRAP you just said MOAR when talking about Doctor Who. You will fit in quite nicely, yes, you will indeed. Long running in-joke with some of my DW buddies that whenever they ask me what they need to do next I reply with "MOAR LIZ" who is one of my all time favourite companions. Yet sadly was ditched in the early 70's because she was too smart. [sarcasm]Yeah, check out the BBC being all with the role models for girls.[/sarcasm]

Ikr, I'm only up to episode three of the current season (as in episode three will be airing on Sunday night) and I am so in love with Eleven. He reminds me so much of other regenerations. I mean it was what I loved about Ten too, he sort of reminded me of a mixture of Three/Four/Five. So it was all sorts of brilliant. And Eleven just continues that. Because I was so worried when they started continuing Who again that they'd ignore the old episodes. But no! Because I mean they can't anyway because it's the same character, the same man. So yeah.

But anyway he's completely adorkable and I imagine Liss would love the Doctor in general for his adorkableness. I don't know. Maybe she should poll her flist to see how many of them watch Doctor Who and start from there.

OH. Percy Jackson I've been looking into reading, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Okay second one does sound kind of interesting too.

I got to Twilight by praying that there would be blood and gore on the next page, and it never actually came to fuition. I was ignoring the romance for the most part and just going along with it and then the freaking "Vampire" (because I will never talk about Twilight "vampires" without "" because frankly how dare they call them selves "vampires") went and freakin sparkled. What-the-fucking-fuck.

That is all I have to say about Twilight. Unless you want to discuss how Bram Stoker and indeed the entire populace of Romanian culture would be turning in their graves right now.

Sparkly vampires. Pfft.

But yes Percy Jackson I definitely want to read because I've always been into Mythology. So Win!

Majoring in Literature and Compositon. FTW.

as much fun and hilarious as hijacking this thread of Liss' is, might I suggest that we move elsewhere?

It seems to me like it'd be easier for both of us, at least myself, if we exchanged e-mails and just did it like that. OR if you use any kind of messenger, such as google chat, yahoo messenger, or AIM (I do use windows live but it likes to bitch at me), all of my stuff is on my profile, and personally, this is what I prefer, but that's me. The box for the comment thread is getting very tiny and our replies seem to be getting LONGER and LONGER! Not that I really object to that at all, tbh! *grins* it's just a royal pain trying to remember to reply to things said and the box is all tiny and blech.

I haz (sort of, if you consider it to be one) a surprise regarding DW and the episodes that have come out for the newest season. *grins*

I imagine Liss would appreciate it if we moved this little shindig elsewhere. However I think I might have missed you on MSN cos I left to have dinner. Fail.
