So I took Boy to a Chicken Pox Party a few weeks ago. So far, I really can't tell if he caught it or not, but the general protocol is to stay home in isolation in case he is contagious. It's starting to drive both of us crazy...
Which got me thinking. There is all of this hub bub about the chicken pox vaccine, and what a terrible mom I am to make my child suffer when he could just get the shot.
There are so many problems with that statement, but the one I'm musing over is this: When you have had the chicken pox, you are pretty much immune for life. Sure there are rare cases where a child gets it twice, but you know what I mean...if you've had them, you generally don't have to worry about being around a pox-y kid.
HOWEVER, people don't have that kind of faith in the vaccine. Moms who vaccinated their kids against chicken pox are still afraid to have their children exposed to wild pox.
*quirky confused look* I thought the vaccine granted immunity. If you don't trust that immunity, why make your kid suffer through the shots???
