pitter-patter and chatter chatter!

I'm actually sitting down...it's a novelty these days. Beloved is off for a 10-day meditation retreat, and keeping up with Boy has been an adventure. He runs and climbs everywhere and everything. I've started looking for a mommy's helper...a tween willing to hang out and play while I'm upstairs or outside...as a means of maintaining my sanity.

But even while Boy is challenging my patience, he is impressing me. He TALKS! It's not just the babble of babies, either. Others can understand him, even his Grumpy who sees him once or twice a month. He is still signing quite a bit, but the vocal communication is growing by leaps and bounds. Even our doctor was impressed in the fifteen minutes we were there.

So far, recognizable words include:
all done, all right, ball, balloon, banana, bath, belly, blanket, boom, bottle, bump, bubble, bye, car, chalk, CD, cheese, coat, couch, cup, Dad, dance, dark, down, draw, drive, duck, eat, eye, fish, hat, help, hot, juice, jump, kiss, kitty, light, Mama, Mimi, more, music, night, no, nose, nurse, off, on, open, ouch, out, outside, pants, phone, play, please, shoes, sit, spoon, socks, stick, stuck, tea, teeth, toast, toes, train, truck, tv, uh-oh, up, walk, water, wet, what, where

The one I'm working on in particular now is "thanks" or "thank you". He still answers "all right!" when you give him something, which is cute, but not quite the same thing. *grin*
