We are a generation with no great goal only direction.
We are a generation with no values only beliefs.
We are a generation with no identity only a letter.
So...why are thigns so bad?
A part of it is a removal of consequences. We now play games where everyone wins. If we always win then we can't comprehend the idea of negative repercussions for our actions.
We are too harsh with our punishments. Kids don't get into fist fights anymore. As a result they internalize conflicts until they explode fully.
The concept of right and wrong is very dynamic right now. Things that were allowed 20 years ago that our parents did are now banned to us. Things that were banned 20 years ago are now allowed to us.
Family life has changed. The divorce rate keeps climbing.
College is now required. The pressures to succeed in high school has increased.
But that is still just the tip of the iceberg. There are many factors for the difference in generation, and the violence and discontent in our generation (X and Y) follows American social trend.

You might be, but I ceratinly am not. And I'm one of the youngest people I know. The virtual generation is those kiddies born in the 90s and are coming of age currently.
Perhaps if you said the arcade generation you would be accurate...but us kids that grew up on Voltron and ate Nintendo cereal for breakfast aren't in that gen.

You've only said one thing false: We have an identity, we're the virtual generation.
