forgot to mention i got promoted at my day job. i took on another team, & since i refused to give up the team i currently manage (& the hiring rights associated with it), i now own the entire department - 26 direct reports instead of the 14 i had. i'm fancy & important, & negotiated for a pretty decent raise, too.
february
i saw cirque du soleil's "kurios". it was really fun & as much magic & lack of physics as i'd expect from cirque.
i set up a snekcam! i can check in on vasuki's adorable snoot from anywhere. though it gives a pretty clear infrared b&w pic, i already bought a wemo... so i'm able to remotely turn on my living room lamp at home & better see snekcam any time. X) i'm also commissioning a custom tank for him, as the 75gal aquarium i've used for all my previous snakes is a little small & a lot inconvenient compared to sexy new designs with fold-down front glass panels & such.
march
i'm seeing kristin hersh soon! she's always delightful insanity; i saw her perform at bumbershoot a few years back, & i'm hoping she does some spoken word on this tour too.
i have an extra exciting tattoo appointment with jon gilbert coming up - he did a fucking awesome job with my wisdom tooth portrait (sorry for the terrible picture), & the new piece he's doing... well, i'll post it when it's done. it's inspired. :D
& that same night i'm seeing a "special acoustic show" by the helio sequence with impatient_hands. saw these guys as an opener for modest mouse a decade ago, & though i'm not a huge fan or anything, i can't even imagine them acoustic, so this'll be fun.
i picked up a coupon to be driven around in a lamborghini! my friend (& employee) paul is attending with me, & i expect this to be a lovely new adrenaline rush.
april
faith no more is back after seventeen years! fuck. yes.
so... i'm going to egypt. :D here's the itinerary, which includes a two-day OVERNIGHT trip SLEEPING UNDER THE STARS ON THE NILE. holy shit. what's even more awesome is that my friend (& employee) spencer spontaneously decided to go with me - egypt has always been in my top five, but it's his #1. the trip's going to be so much more fun with him - & safer for lishes, too. i know egypt isn't super safe right now, but it's safe enough for tour groups, & who knows what'll happen in the future - i'm of the "better go while it's possible" mindset on this one. of course there will be a full travelogue as usual, & i'm already talking to tattooshops in cairo about the Grammy Memorial Tattoo addition. ^_^
kids in the hall are touring?!@#?!? all five original members, & i'm going to be there.
currently
though i trimmed a half pound off my dreads in mid-late 2013, they again started grazing my butt. so i took another third pound off this month, to boob-length. i don't think i ever got around to posting pics of the previous color scheme (though there are some decent yet grown-out shots here), but their eighth year returns them to classic lish-red tips. this actually took quite a lot of effort: - color-oopsing the box red out of eight dreads - bleaching the bottom six inches - second round bleaching the bottom six inches - dyeing dark brown above the waterline of six inches on the eight were-box-red-are-now-light-brown dreads & four blonde dreads - RED! so much happier. also, i severely impressed myself with my color-matching skills, as the brown i chose perfectly matches my natural color to the point that i'm kind of shocked.
totally looking for another international trip this year, probably in november. i was thinking of a kenyan safari, or perhaps a run through greece & italy... costa rica! hey, anyone have suggestions?
hopefully i'll have time to update again before june?@#?!
