Five Things - April 5th
Some silly, some serious things today:
1. Mobile Usability for Cats: Essential Design Principles for Felines. By Jakob Nielsen. Favorite quote: "Given the average cat's paw size, we recommend tap target zones of at least 3 cm (slightly larger than one inch), although a Maine Coon might need more due to their unbelievably enormous mitts."
2. Unmemorizing the "Silence is Sexy" Date Script. A quote that made me think: "It’s not radical because women never want sex or agree to have it, but because the typical 'sexy' date script society expects and encourages from us usually involves a man trying whatever he wants and a woman either putting the brakes on, or consenting…by not putting the brakes on." I have to admit, I still feel beholden to this script quite a bit, for all that gender norms in relationships feel weird to me in other ways.
3. I had my birthday tacos with excellent coworkers yesterday :) Better yet, my boss remembered my birthday was Saturday, and suggested we go yesterday because she wasn't going to be in the office today.
4. As always, I have amazing amazing friends. I am trying to be better about keeping up with their lives, because I do have a tendency to disappear into my own thoughts for long periods of time.
5. I also have an amazing, amazing husband, who has attempted to wake up early and make me breakfast almost every day this week.
In news that has nothing to do with the above, I've just had (or rather, am about to have) a drop for the run of Cracks at Festival. The character, Lord Wellborn, is male, involved with the Meeting of the Principalities, and a canon character. If you know anyone who'd be interested in playing, have them ping me :)
