Weekend Running and Reading

May 24, 2004 14:33

I bailed on open water swim practice on Saturday so that I could sleep in but I redeemed myself by running 7 miles on Sunday. I surprised myself by running all 7 miles. The original plan was for me to just run 4 miles with the group and then go home because I didn't think I was in good enough shape to run all 7. Go me. :-)

It was great do basically do nothing this weekend. Its been awhile since I've had nothing going on on the weekend. I caught up on my reading - finally finished "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" (Baigent, et al). Very interesting read. I read it as background to "The Da Vinci Code" (which I read last summer). I was interested to read where the author of The Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown) got his info. I found Holy Blood, Holy Grail to be very dry in parts, but the authors' have some very interesting theories about how the historical Jesus (as opposed to the theological Jesus) lived his final days. Also, as someone who is not very familiar with the New Testament, I learned a considerable amount about the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John (aka Lazarus ??? ).

Now its time to finally start my book club book, "An Italian Affair" (Laura Fraser).
