This evening I noticed white spots on the LCD screen on my 15" TiBook. There is a row of them along the very bottom of the screen. I'm not sure how long they've been there as I've usually got a multicolored background on the screen and that seemed to hide the spots. I did some research on the apple.com support pages and this is a documented flaw in 15" PowerBooks, including the TiBook. They have an extended screen warranty to cover this specific problem but unfortunately for me, my computer's serial number falls out of the range for coverage. I'll call Apple tomorrow to see if anything can be done, but I hold little hope. Apple tends to be sticklers about enforcing rules when it comes to repairs.

On the bright side, my white spots all appear along the bottom of the screen, as opposed to right in the middle of the screen. So, I'll just move my dock back to the bottom of the screen and continue using a multicolored background. A passerby would likely never notice, but now that I have, that's all I can see. This household does not seem to have very good luck with TiBook screens. Gord has his own issue. Instead of white spots, he has a dark spot at the bottom of his screen.

All this and I still like Apple. Go figure.
