So, what did I do today? Well, I woke up and went to the Upward Bound office so that Eric Brose could give me my evaluation for my internship. Overall, he gave me an A, but said that I need to improve my delegating skills. I kind of knew that already. See, he thought that throughout the summer, I took on too much responsibility instead of assigning things for the other R.A.'s to do. I knew from the beginning that I wouldn't be very good at giving my peers orders. However, they were desperate for a resident hall coordinator so I reluctantly accepted. Basically, all summer long instead of getting some of the R.A.'s to help me do something like clean up after an evening activity, I would just do it myself. Some of the R.A.'s had the initiative to come up and ask if I needed help, but there were others that had more important things to do, like x-box or ps2. Oh well, the summer's over, no use crying over spilled milk. Eric did mention that next year he may have a teaching position for me though, so that's pretty cool. I have no clue what subject he would have me teach though. Health education can be somewhat controversial at times with the inclusion of sex ed, so I don' know if he'd want me teaching that or something else. Really, I'd only be certified to teach health ed. Maybe I'll get certified to teach first aid and cpr between now and then. That would be a cool class for the kids to take and very useful I think too. Oh yeah, I was supposed to get my check today too, but for some reason, all other checks except mine came in. Go figure. Good thing I don't need the money right away.
Later, Nicole and I went out car shopping. Nicole's searching for a car, not me. She's still in the stage where she hasn't fully convinced mom and dad that she needs one yet. I remember that stage. It took forever it seems before I could convince my parents that I was serious about buying my first car. It wasn't until I did all my research and some serious price comparing that they finally gave in. I think she still has a while to go before they'll sign for her. For some reason, she wants to get a later model car. If I was her, I would go for something a little older since she'll pretty much be driving just locally. Why go way in debt when in a couple of years, she'll be wanting a new car anyway? I say, shell out a couple grand on a cheap, yet well maintained car and let that get her around for the next couple of years. I wish I had done that myself. Only thing is, I travel back and forth from Lexington and mom thought it would be better for me to get something with a warranty. So now I'm stuck with a crappy KIA for at least another year. Oh well, it doesn't look the greatest, but it does get me from here to there (knock on wood).
Went out to dinner with my dad and grandpa. We went to the Golden Corral. Actually, I wasn't all that hungry, but Dad was paying so I had to get his money's worth.
Some crazy things were going on today in Fort Thomas. Some guy went wacko and was running around Ft. Thomas with a gun. Then he broke into some lady's house and was hanging there for a while. I don't know how the story ended though. Don't know if he's still on the loose or if he's behind bars. Hopefully the latter. It was weird because as I was watching the news special report on channel 5, they said that his last known address was creekwood dr. in wilder. For some reason I thought that's the same rd. that grandma lives on so I called her and let her know what was going on. Actually, creekwood was the road that Aunt Rena's condo was on. Pretty crazy. Grandma said that she didn't recognize the picture though.
Just got done watching a pretty good movie, In the Line of Fire. After that, I figured I'd get on-line, check my e-mail and write in this journal thingy. Really, I'm just procrastinating. There are these independent study assignments I need to be working on, so I try to keep myself busy doing unimportant tasks like checking my e-mail and writing in this journal thingy.
Well, I think that's enough for tonight. I must have written a good page or two. You know, it's much easier writing a journal with a keyboard in front of you than with a pen and paper. I wonder why. I guess I type faster than I write which is helpful in keeping up with my racing thoughts.
