So after a far too long wait due to the plague spreading through my RL household (damn school germs!) here is the next chapter of the Calypso Island Legacy. When last we left the crowded O'Keefe household, our founder Ainsley's two oldest children, twins Bennett and Braden, were one day from their birthday and were heading off to college and third son, Bishop, was declared Legacy heir after a close vote.
As teenagers the boys had managed to rack up a decent number of scholarships between the two of them so rather than move into a dorm they rented one of the small furnished houses on campus.
"Look out Sim State, we have arrived!"
Braden rolled a want right away to be "Big on Campus." and already had a "Have 30 Best Friends" want locked so he's ready to mix and mingle with the co-ed crowd big time. Bennett on the other hand wants to write a term paper, join group research and go to class. Yawn... Dude, you are killing me.
First, before we do anything though, off to the clothing store! All in all, these are not that bad as far as age transition picks, but why not dress for success?
The college freshmen... Ainsley's babies grew up nice looking.
Nicely put together boys. See what all you folks that didn't vote for Braden were missing??? Not even 1 vote... tsk, tsk...
Getting the boys settled in was a little dull after all the hustle and bustle of their family home. First days of class, deciding on their majors, saying "Hi!" and getting to know the many new dormie faces who walked by, and trying to decide if we wanted to ban all the annoying Uni based characters that kept running into the house (only Braden's endless "meet somebody new" want kept that from happening right away).
Nothing very exciting, basically just kind of chilling out and enjoying the relative quiet. After their full house in Calypso Island, even cheering Llamas and creeper type professors ringing the bell at odd times seemed calm.
And then who should walk by, but Bennett's not quite girlfriend from home, ex-cashier, Mabel Atkins.
Bennett, go talk to her!
"I don't know... I was kind of a jerk, not calling to ask her out after I flirted with her back home. She got pink hearts for me and everything. And that stupid Llama is out there again. I don't care if Braden wants to be his friend I still think we should ban him."
Bennett!!! I swear I am going to make you miserable if you don't GO OUT AND TALK TO HER!!!
So he went out and in his bumbling, geeky fashion he apologised for never calling and told her he was glad to see her and then while the Llama stood there and cheered, he asked her if she wanted to finally go on a date with him.
Mabel, Mabel, Mabel... I know you had a crush on him for a long time, but you should have really made him work a lot harder for that!
And that.
And especially for that!!!
"Seriously! He doesn't call her even once all through high school, and on their first date ever, I'm sleeping on the pull-out sofa. This is not good. I was counting on his weirdness about talking to girls to keep the room woohoo free until Lucy and I were ready to make that jump. We are going to have to rethink the whole one bedroom thing and upgrade to a bigger place."
Hey! Bennett! What are you doing? You've got absolutely NO freaking reason to be stuffing your face! And you better not let your neat-nick twin see you drinking out of the milk carton. He'll have a conniption fit and I won't stop him from smacking you around.
"I think Mabel wants me to ask her to marry me now... And that weirds me out. I know she has a Family aspiration so it is to be expected, but... I mean, I think I love her and I like the kissing and I really like the woohoo, but knowing she's thinking marriage already makes me anxious. I need to eat..."
Sims...
The next day the brothers talked about the bedroom situation and decided that moving to a bigger place was the best way to go. They had the money, hadn't really done anything to make the first place theirs yet anyway and having 2 bedrooms would be better option than one of them sleeping on the pull out if they had female company. So they packed up their sofa bed and computers and moved into this place I built and cloned for the block since I kind of hated the layout of the Maxis 2 bedroom rentals.
Better. Much better.
Enjoying the rest of the Fall at the new house.
Freshman year highlights... Random visits from Llamas, cows, cheerleaders and creepy professors, going to class and doing term papers, talking to their Mom on the phone (she calls a lot, obviously misses her babies), moving and Mabel. Lots of Mabel. Somehow in the jump from teen to young adult Bennett and Mabel's chemistry jumped too- from 2 to 3 bolts and in true 3 bolt stalker fashion she can't stay away from her boy.
Bennett! Stop with the weird dead eyes already!!! Stop with the freak out! If you are going to woohoo with the girl you need to be open to the idea that she cares for you enough to want to get married SOME DAY.
And Braden and Lucy? Still so sweet- they both rolled engagement wants right away, but college engagements tend to goof up marriage wants later after school is over and they had larger wants already locked so I let them roll away for now. She spends lots of time at the house. Dates here and there. Always dream dates with lots of kisses. But no woohoo yet.
And then one day...
"Braden, I think it is time we take things to the next level. Mabel and Bennett didn't even kiss before college and they are already intimate. We've been dating for such a long time... We went steady in high school for heavens sake! You don't need to be such a gentleman. I want you to be my first. Now. "
"As you wish..."
And guess what- first time woohoo pushed Braden over the top of the Lifetime aspiration bar! Perma Platinum for the rest of his life. I have never had that happen in my game before. Go Lucy!
Since she was there pretty much all the time anyway Braden asked Lucy to move in with him. She said yes. Like there was ever any doubt. I'm going to miss the awesome dream date gifts she'd bring him, but it was the logical next step for them. If it was possible for young adults to get married in college, I would totally have them tie the knot.
And sophomore year continued much like freshman year had. Calls from Mom, hanging out and making friends, classes, dates, deans list and Mabel freaking Bennett out by just showing up, walking in and kissing him. And, of course, lots of cheerleaders, Llamas and Cows...
"Della, I'm busy. Go cheer for Lucy, will ya? She's upstairs I think. "
"But you are so good at that! Clean that sink, Braden! Go Braden!"
"Yo, O'Keefe!!! Come pull my finger!"
Bad timing on that one since the Llama mascot was already hanging out... The Cow got punched in the flank steak and his rump roast kicked.
Yeah, the 'ban all annoying' thing is very tempting at times. I think even Braden is getting tired of them.
Maybe Junior year... but first back to the main house for a rotation!
