Considering the fact that my birthday will happen while we're on vacation, I'm considering buying pizzas and beer for the colleagues tomorrow. To celebrate what? I hate getting older. It fucking shows. I look in the mirror and I wonder when the hell did this happen. Something died there. And good looks are relative, they depend so much of your ( Read more... )

Buy something for yourself, instead. Something which helps you feel better. It is true that "good looks" depend in a big way of your emotional state, but there are small things which rattle the ole' cage a bit and stimulate new feelings. Like a full-body massage, a new haircut, a visit with a beautician.. all things which probably cost not much more than offering pizza and beer to your colleagues, but might do a lot more for how you feel about yourself.

I might do something with my hair. But it's not like I'm eager to.

You're not eager now. But having it done, will make a change, so try to push yourself :)

I know... I have to push myself, or I'd never do anything. Not even for myself. Since I don't like me very much. But I guess I have to live with me, there's no other choice... haha

Yes, after 30 there's not much to celebrate, except if you enjoy getting older! Not my case... Berlin will surely be a nice treat - you'll forget about anything else!

There's nothing to celebrate before 30 either, trust me :P

Actually, same here. But I guess I was more hopeful then.

Hey..don't you know that the low 30s is the new low 20s ? LUCKY YOU !

Nice letter :) I think you should be a bit late for work more often !!

Yes, being late at work had its advantages. More interesting things to see. But yeah, the town is filled with really beautiful (and young) girls and really few nice looking guys. Tough market. My best chances would be to find him really drunk, which is not likely, at that hour.

If you did find him drunk at that hour, that would mean he's probably not the kind of guy you'd want to be with anyway. Don't sell yourself short - you have much more to offer than you might think. (and I'm not just being nice...)

Not that I don't have some qualities, but really, it's a very tough 'meat' market. I have to be objective here. My chances are dim. And you don't actually compete with similar products, but with the latest hifi versions, that also come cheaper and with more gadgets. Tough.

Oh I hate it too. I wish I didn't feel this way, but I always find myself counting down the years, weeks, days, hours... thinking about lost time, etc. You're right though - beauty is often a state of mind. Just today I was reading some old emails while looking for one in particular. Someone once wrote to me something like "don't look at yourself when you're feeling down, you will only see what's in your head". Not practical advice for obvious reasons, but it kind of makes sense.

I love your open letter. You have such a nice way with words, do you know that?

I think I will follow that piece of advice too. Sounds like a good idea.

Ah, the letter was supposed to be funny. I can't get funny right these days. Damn!

Awww don't worry. I got the humor in it, but I still thought it was nice...

The guy is REALLY nice. Now I really wonder about that green t-shirt. What on earth could make a guy wear something so small that every time he moves, it hikes up and shows his belly. OK, I only saw the back, but, boy, that was HOT. But seriously, why? Only (teenage) girls wear things like that, as far as I know. Whom was he trying to seduce?

I wish you could start to think in another way about yourself....

I'm just being a bit sad, but quite objective. I know my 'market value'.
