One of the things I've noticed about Teen Wolf is that the show really has some issues with consistency and continuity errors. So it's hard to know whether a tidbit is a genuine hint/red herring/character development and when it's just a flat out screw up (*points to the box of Kleenex on Stiles' headboard when he hands Lydia a roll of toilet paper and says that's all he has...*). So I don't know whether this tidbit I noticed was intentional or just a screw up, but I'm going to go with intentional because I like it.
In the episode Fury, we get a flashback of Matt waiting outside of Jackson's house and spying on him with the camera he loaned to Jackson, and then later that evening becoming the Kanima's master when Jackson transforms and leaves the house.
BUT!! Matt gave Jackson the video camera AFTER Isaac's dad was murdered. I think it's Shape Shifted when Matt loans Jackson the camera, and when he's walking away from Jackson's house after giving Jackson the camera, he sees the lights flashing in Isaac's house across the street, from Derek and Scott being in the house where Derek is showing Scott the freezer. Mr. Lahey is already dead at that point.
So that means Jackson killed Lahey, Sr. all on his own. It wasn't Matt that made him kill Isaac's father. So the question that comes up in my mind is why? Why did the Kanima decide, all on its own, to kill Lahey Sr.? Was it because Lahey, Sr. actually did kill someone and the Kanima was just drawn to kill him because he was a murderer? (Which would lead to the question of who did Lahey, Sr. kill...maybe Mrs. Lahey?) Or did the Kanima go after Lahey, Sr. simply because, on some level, Jackson actually did have some compassion and empathy for the hell of abuse Isaac was going through and when in Kanima form his instinct was to pass judgement on Mr. Lahey by killing him?
With Colton leaving the show, we'll probably never actually get an answer to that question, unfortunately. Maybe some day I'll get a chance to ask Jeff Davis directly at a con or something, IDK. I just would really love to know.
