Hey look, I haven't given up yet! This is progress, right?
After all the drama in the last round, let's hope this one will be nice and relaxing. So clearly, we start off with easily the most hectic household on Isola: the Tiani/Talanis!
A typical day for Maluhia and Olabisi.
Maluhia: ... Olabisi?
Olabisi: Mmm?
Maluhia: When I'm an adult, will you be allowed to leave and have a family?
Olabisi: .... Well... no, I won't. I still need to be here for guidance and... why do you ask?
Maluhia: Don't you think it's unfair? That the Chief can still be the Chief but he can have a family - but we aren't allowed?
Olabisi: ... Maybe... but, the Chief has to carry the tribe on. It's best to not think about it.
Tuula and Linje take great pleasure in scarring their youngest grandchildren.
Since the village hall opened up, Baakir now has a place to work out of and so he got that job in politics that founders are supposed to get. He did start at entry level, but he was quickly promoted because of skills and always being in a pretty fantastic mood. Baakir's poor hat - it never fits on the portrait panel!
Olabisi's painting has begun to consume her time. Maluhia is quite an independent learner, so at the moment Olabisi's duties are light. When she paints, she forgets all about the burden on her shoulders and feels truly free. She can get lost in the sight of the colours, in the sound brush strokes and the smell of fresh paint. As the shaman, she is particularly in tune with the spirits and often, she feels their ethereal hands guide her work. These paintings are always particularly exciting, as they can potentially reveal hints from the past or glimpses of the future.
One afternoon, in one such daze, she takes a step back to admire her finished work but instead feels an urging sense of foreboding. A waterfall tainted with blood - Olabisi recognises the waterfall in particular as being nearby on the island.
Olabisi was afraid of what this foretold, and so she decided to get rid of the painting.
Meanwhile, due to Baakir being busy with his new workload and Nora just generally being Nora, the grandparents are tasked with teaching the twins their toddler skills.
Nui: ... This is a bad time. I'll come back later.
The twins grow up and I remember to take a picture of them! On the left, Ikaika and on the right, Auli'i.
They share a bedroom next to Nui, and I have to re-use bedding because I've run out of 'native' castaway bedding. GRUMBLE.
But that's all for the Tiani/Talani household right now - on to the Castaway crew!
The Castaway Camp
Good to see the garden is as well-kept as ever.
Linea continues to help me explain why I think she is awesome. It's also only now that I spot a typo in that text! :o Maxis I am ASHAMED.
(Says the person who makes about four typos a post cough cough)
What's this? Davina and Simon are becoming teenagers? THEY GROW UP SO FAST. *sniff*
THREE BOLTERS.
And what does Danny do now that his stalkee is now smooching age?
Play red hands. Of course.
After about an hour of red hands, he finally works up the courage to grab her ass.
It's like Romeo and Juliet up in here. Love Story of the Year, 2013.
Thaaaat's more like it!
... Okay, you two can calm down now.
They never did...
I turned off ACR woohoo for these two, because I do not need to maintain that 100% teen pregnancy rate in Isola!
... Okay you two, carry on.
Also, while turning off woohoo for Davina and Danny, I had a quick browse on which sims was whose 'The One Sim'. Orson's was DAVINA EW EW EW EW.
Will Orson ever do anything that won't disgust me? Probably not!
Daniela decides to take advantage of the genie they got absolutely ages ago to wish for some money to start up her grocers and Candy's clothes shop.
Danny+Davina: SLURP SLURP.
Candy: *is just glad it's not her*
Linea: *is just glad it's not Candy*
In my obsession with Davina, we never really got a good look at Simon. He's very pointy!
By the way, Davina is a knowledge sim who wants to be the hand of poseidon and Simon is a fortune sim... with the lifetime want of 5 top level businesses. I'm going for it!
Daniela still doesn't know that Orson made out with her daughter - I wonder if she'd want to be that close to him if she did know?
It's time for Daniela to become Isola's first elder!
For some reason old age makes her freckles VERY PROMINENT, but I think she makes a pretty cute old lady!
Danny: *is probably talking about how awesome Davina is*
Orson: *is pretending to listen while thinking about Davina IN THE WORST POSSIBLE WAY*
Only Simon understands the true nature of this insidious bunch.
I use the word insidious too much, but it's just the perfect word to describe Orson and most things he does.
That evening, Daniela would rather go to sleep on the deckchair than climb into bed with Orson... could she suspect something is up?
Candy finally gets her clothes shop up and running and 'Island Attire' is a big success. At first, Simon was behind the till and Candy was on sales but turns out she's not very good at it. So, I swapped them around and Simon is a natural salesman! Who woulda thought it? Maybe that traumatising experience with Morag when he was a kid has taught him a few things.
Davina: *is always playing with the anti-Rubik's-cub*
Danny: *is always irritating me somehow*
Since Daniela is getting older, she decided to read up on the subject of lifetime happiness.
Oh no, wild animal, etc.
These wild animals sure do like to break telescopes.
Daniela also opens her grocers, which Davina decides to come along and help with. FINALLY, the people of Isola actually have a place to buy food rather than having to live off of what they catch or grow!
Morag: OH NO. HE WANTS REVENGE.
Nah, Simon just wants to sell, sell and sell some more!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
ha ha ha ha *gasp for breath*
heheheheheheh
heh heh heh
It's like these two are mad that I won't let them woohoo yet so they just make out CONSTANTLY to protest.
Daniela: *is happy for the company*
Orson: *wishes Daniela were Davina... or Nora. He's not picky*
That's all for the Castaway Camp this round, next we're on to the Barretts!
Barrett
Edward in blue, Henry in green and Grace in red.
Simon is the most entrepreneurial teen on Isola, so Morag asks him to watch the triplets while she and Murray visit Treasures and Trinkets.
The newest residents of the island quickly fall prey to Morag's traps and tricks.
Grace and Simon are looking to become the next Danny and Davina. It's not quite on the same level of creepiness, it's more just kind of cute.
Can you tell Grace is my favourite.
It's time for the triplets to grow up, which couldn't come soon enough for me.
Also, shortly after this I got rid of ALL THE STOP SIGNS ON ISOLA.
From left to right: Edward the popularity sim, Henry the pleasure sim and Grace the family sim. Of course now Grace is a teenager it's even more obvious which of the three is her.
I'm still not completely sold on Edward's look, but it'll have to do for now.
Morag! Murray! She's just walking around in broad daylight! Go get her!
... Isola REALLY needs some vigilantes.
While Morag and Murray are at the shop, the teens decide to pig out on shrimp gumbo.
Simon also visits, and makes a beeline for Grace.
He seems to approve of her teen transition very much!
Of course, being raised in a house with three men and a testosterone-pumped woman, Grace is oblivious to the subtleties of romance.
And then Grace's brothers bombard the moment, ruining it. Poor Simon can't really catch a break.
Grace shows her appreciation for him putting up with her weird family.
And the boys... go back to whatever they were doing before.
It's time for Simon to go home, so Grace leaves him with a parting gift.
A parting gift that leaves her all hot and bothered, it seems.
Here is where I would normally say 'We'll end here with obligatory triplets sleeping picture' but NO MORE! Because a household joined Isola this round, so we get to play them too!
Their quickly-constructed house, close to everyone else. Left to right is Humud, Malie, Kei, Birsi and Mifune.
Ground floor of their house - it's not much at the moment.
Upstairs. Top bedroom is Mifune and Birisi's, middle bedroom is Kei and Malie's and bottom bedroom is Humud's.
Another family that's going to survive off fishing hunting!
The local tribal children are invited over for some bonding. Left to right is Ikaika, Malie, Kei, Nui, Auli'i and Aumoe.
Most of the kids end up doing this, though... where are your manners!?
Kei takes a particular shining to Auli'i, and her to him.
The tribe used up a lot of resources to build a home for the Pongwa and Folon families, so they're still lacking light. After a particularly good day of hunting though, it'll be easy to fix up the place to its full potential.
Mifune and Birisi are two very different people but they seem to make a happy couple regardless. Humud feels lonely when he sees how affectionate these two are to one another - Kei's mother has been gone for such a long time...
Despite not being related in any way, Kei and Malie like sharing a room together. They feel just like siblings and are always doing things together.
Humud feels it's about time to start contributing to the island that's given him and his son a new home, and so he becomes a guard for the Tiani's hut during the night.
So while Mifune and Birsi do their own thing, Humud gets to work on improving his physique so that he can hope to go after those wild animals that keep wrecking the harmony on Isola.
Birisi thought that he would never have a child, but Malie is a special little girl. She's so very timid, but once she opens up she becomes a joy to be around. Mifune wouldn't mind having another, but Birisi is happy to just have Malie, so they have also been using Olabisi's infertility poultice.
Kei: Is it ready yet?
Mifune: Almost. Just wait.
Kei: ... How about now?
This is where I abruptly leave you! Tune in next time for the Nora/Orson kissing dilemma actually being DEALT WITH!
... What, you thought I was gonna let that slide? Do I look like a benevolent sim god to you!?
Thank you very much for reading!
