Isola - Round 4

May 09, 2013 19:11

One day, I'm going to have to make two posts to fit everything that happened during a round in.

Today is not one of those days.

Olabisi continues her motherly duties to Maluhia, her apprentice-to-be. Not a whole lot of apprenticing she can do right now, anyway.

Nora proves to me that she's completely capable of handling herself - before she took that mouthful, the bar was entirely red. A few more seconds and she would've been toast.

The Tiani/Talani residence is growing nicely, with a full upstairs now.

Also, a PROPER SHOT OF AUMOE, because I am a terrible sim god and we haven't had a good look at her child face yet. She is basically a clone of her father, which is great because Linje as an awesome face.

And I'll over-compensate and post a meaningless shot of her fishing! Enjoy the pointlessness!

Olabisi is responsible for teaching Maluhia everything.
Maluhia clearly isn't impressed.

Baakir has managed to get a village hall up and running, so I've arbitrarily decided that sims on Isola can now get married! Nora asks her mother to babysit Maluhia while everyone takes a trip to the new hall.

It wouldn't really do for the mother of the future Chief to not be married to the current Chief, would it?

So Nora swallows her romance sim instincts and, with Olabisi overseeing, they tie the knot.

(I've also only noticed now that Olabisi and Nora's dresses match. Blargh!)

They kiss on the stroke of midnight, and Nora finally officially joins the Tiani family.

But lazy me wouldn't drag everyone to a community lot just for one wedding, would I?

Tuula takes Linje's name, since Aumoe is the only chance at the Talani name living on.

That came out a little more depressing than I meant. Onwards!

Nora's always willing to bring the mood up.

Linea and Candy decided to show up autonomously for the wedding - perhaps they're considering similar vows?

Meanwhile, Daniela takes the opportunity of everyone being out of the house to sit on Baakir's throne.

Excellent idea. Cannot go wrong.

Olabisi is a massive prankster, easily the worst I've ever had. I guess she gets a bit bored of her studies, huh?

(Hi Grace!)

Now that Nui is a child, he gets his own bedroom.

That face is plotting something.

Did I mention Nora is pregnant again? Because it's pretty important information for the next few pictures.

A little boy, named Ikaika.

And a girl, Auli'i! Four kids is ENOUGH, Nora. No more!

A couple of cribs in the corner of Baakir and Nora's room, and we have somewhere to dump the poopsacks.

Nora recovers quickly from childbirth, it seems.

Nui is quite close to his aunt Aumoe, who is only two days older than him.

The only person Olabisi seems to be very close to is her easel. Maybe it's better that way, considering that her duties come first.

One of these duties involves mixing up potions, tonics, elixirs and ointments on a daily basis. Currently, the distribution of her work is scattered and small-scale. She's considered setting up a small stall to sell her work, but Baakir would probably deem it too 'distracting'.

The Tiani/Talani household's main income is through fishing - almost everyone has a gold badge and they regularly make thousands a day from just standing by the pond and fishing. At this rate Isola will be seeing a connection to downtown (still pondering how to handle that in an island setting) before the last of generation one has passed.

Olabisi has brewed a poultice from an extensive list of herbs that she believes will work as effective birth control. Nora suggests that she and Baakir be her guinea pigs. Baakir is amiable to the idea.

Maluhia grew up that day, and I never got a proper shot of her face. I'm sorry - this household is hectic, okay?

I DID however get a shot of the twins as toddlers! Ikaika (2/4/10/8/4) on the left and Auli'i (1/4/10/8/4) on the right. Everyone in this family is extremely active - they are CONSTANTLY eating!

Nora helps end their section on a sad note - she fell asleep sitting next to the daughter that she's not allowed to properly look after.

The Castaway Camp

Candy and Linea waste no time in rushing off to the village hall in order to make it official. Linea takes Candy's surname, since the twins have the Valance name. Plus, Linea secretly things Valance is a pretty cool surname.

During the ceremony Simon bumps into Grace, who decided to attend.

Back at the ranch, Danny and Burton kill some time with stories.

Burton: I WILL MURDER YOU. :D

Danny continues to express his hormonal frustration through his addiction to red hands.

Danny: I CAN QUIT ANYTIME I WANT.

Candy felt quite useless around the island, considering her main role was 'occasionally helps Daniela with the crops'. Linea has a surprise for her though - a salvaged sewing machine! Candy is constantly chattering away about fashion and clothes, so it's about time she became the trendsetter for Isola!

Further proof that Burton is possessed.

Despite his insidious nature, Burton appears to have everyone wrapped around his little finger.

Including Maluhia. Hi there! Sorry I didn't get a picture of you as a child when it was your family's turn... It's kind of strange on Isola - you see more of the sims that live there on other lots than you do on their own lots!

Danny: DID YOU KNOW THAT TURTLES MATE FOR LIFE?
Davina: ... No they don't.
Danny: *thinks * I wish we could mate for life Davina *sob*

Candy's getting pretty good at sewing - she's mastered basic patterns and enjoys having something productive to do with her time.

Simon looks so uncomfortable in every situation.

It's not often I can get sims all in one place to eat, and even then Davina isn't here and both Orson and Daniela are in their pajamas... but it's still sort-of cute, right?

Candy made a teddy bear on her sewing machine, which all of the kids instantly love.

Evil Teddy: BURN THINGS.

And then THIS happened.

What are you doing Orson!? That's the CHIEF'S WIFE - and as importantly - your sort-of GIRLFRIEND'S DAUGHTER!!

Nora+Orson: YOLO.
Simon: *scarred*

What is Orson's appeal, really!?

Will he try to go for all three generations? KEEP MALUHIA AND AULI'I OFF THE LOT.

Simon stays quiet about what he saw, instead choosing to find solace in the evil teddy pyromaniac.

DEJA VU, ORSON?

So we leave the castaway camp with me feeling supremely pissed at Orson. Happy days!

Barrett

If you need a reminder (and you might, 'cause I usually do), we have Murray with the eyepatch, Morag with the hat, Edward with the smaller hat, Henry in green and Grace with her back to us.

What did we do wrong, Grace? ;_;

Treasures and Trinkets has become a more official business now, with more organised stock. Why are the people of Isola flocking to buy falcon sculptures when they have to hunt for food? Beats me!

I've never 'Dazzled' children before. It's cute!

Morag seems to have the last laugh when it comes to Galion - he can't get enough of Morag's falcon sculptures.

And then this COMPLETELY INAPPROPRIATELY ATTIRED REPORTER came to visit!

A couple of dazzles later and Treasures and Trinkets receives a good review, with a Best of the Best award to boot.

Considering this is the only shop on the entire island, I guess Treasures and Trinkets really is the best of the best!

The shop's success prompts them to expand from underneath their house and into a small plot of land just off the original camp. It's an ideal place to set up a market, and Morag wants to be the first to get in on it.

Daniela is pretty much the unofficial babysitter of Isola, so Morag asks her to keep an eye on the triplets while Morag and Murray give their new enterprise a test run.

It looks so empty underneath the house without a shop... suggestions on what to replace it with are welcome!

News is slow to get around at first that Trinkets and Treasures has moved, so Morag kills some time by murdering innocent butterflies.

Eventually business picks up, and Morag's back to her old tricks.

Meanwhile Simon drops by so the triplets have some fun outside while they wait for their parents to come home and for Daniela to stop incessantly preparing meals (I had to turn the fridge around).

Those are all of the photos I took for this round of Isola! I've already played through the next round, so tune in next time for a bunch of teenage birthdays and a tiny bit of plot sneaking in!

Oh! Speaking of plot, during the next round we reach 5 community lots and I introduce another family! So here's their little introduction:

Linje had been out scouting when he saw a raft reach the shore of Isola - he fetched Baakir as quickly as he could and they went to go investigate.

Baakir: Is that... HUMUD! MIFUNE! BIRISI!
Humud: You are a sight for sore eyes, Baakir! We thought we were Wanmami's only survivors!
Baakir: We thought we were Wanmami's only survivors! Where have you been all this time?
Mifune: A wonderful little island not too far from here - had the strangest name though; Felicity! We were out to find a new home though, and... how lucky we come to your island!
Baakir: What's that you have on the raft?

Birisi: Ah, the children. They're a little shy, but they'll warm up. Kei is Humud's son and Malie is our daughter.
Baakir: You had children! Has it really been so long since we left Wanmami? You're all very welcome to stay here with us.
Humud: I think we'll do just that, Baakir.

So yeah! That's all of Wanmami's original cast on the island now (sorry Walter...), so we'll just have to see where the rest of those CAS points take us!
Hope you enjoyed reading this installment as much as I enjoyed playing it!
