I'm having a class scheduing crisis, and I hope I can work it out. I have to switch from a third-year translation class to a first year class because it is RIDICULOUSLY HARD. I didn't realize that translation could be so difficult- it's not only the vocab/expressions, but also rhythm, sentence composition and style that come into play. So English to French is way too hard for me at this level, although French to English is a lot easier because as a native speaker I have an ear for what sounds good. Even so it is a subtle art. Also I want to take an international relations class but I just realized today that it overlaps with this awesome literature class on Don Quixote. I need to figure out which to take- the familiar or the new.

Lots of socializing this past weekend- I hung out with Yasmine a ton because she just left this morning for two weeks in Geneva (home for her) and I won't get to see her for three weeks. Paul just left, too, and we had a birthday party/goodbye party for him on Friday night. I also went to a jazz concert featuring Chiara's mom Margeaux Lampley, the American jazz singer. It was very cool. Within 12 hours I ascended from Purgatory (le Purgatoire, a fun bar/dance club that was better than the name implied) to the Greek idea of heaven, the Elysian Fields (Champs-Elysees) with Yasmine and her British friend, who was visiting for the weekend. We got free Sephora makeovers, and then I ran off toute maquillee to my dance class. Afterwards we went out to dinner (Pizza Hut?? everything else was closed) with Marylou, the Michael usurper, and Franck who looks like Oscar Wilde. They're both funny and I'm feeling more up to cracking jokes in French, finally.

Also: I'm unique in the US! I assume that this one is me.
