It was 70° today and yesterday. The girls have been tumbling over each other getting in and out of the most restrictive entry. They even shoved the bar over so that they could get in and out one side of it, and they're all carrying pollen. I had my skin tests yesterday, and they covered white faced hornets, yellow jackets, yellow hornets, wasps, and honey bees. The only one I reacted to was the honey bee. Drat ( Read more... )

The weather is going cold in Colorado, and we're starting to have freezing nights. I've closed up the front entrance, taken out the screened bottom board, and the girls seem very content inside their boxes. I had a doctor's appointment this morning for my allergy and asthma, and I thought I was over my cold, but the breathing tests were really, really depressing. I'm back down to just 66% of my lung capacity even after a nebulizer with long and short-term drugs. So... went to my allergy and asthma doctor today for my check up and to see where I was after three months of meds, allergy shots, and trying a new exercise regimen. After the first two months of finding myself at 61% and 63% after meds, it had kind of woken me up to the possibility that I was losing lung capacity permanently. I hate not being able to breathe.  The cold last week, high tree pollen counts, my asthma, and just generally being stupid about staying up late in order to indulge in my writing binge has made it so that I'm coughing everywhere.  Bah.  And I have my allergy shot treatment appointment this afternoon to make sure that the whole series is actually ( Read more... )

... so the one surprising thing from the allergy appointment was finding that I'm probably using less than 70% of my lung capacity. That there's a low level asthma that's occupying, basically, half a lung. Even with all the stuff I've been doing. Ah well...

The good news is that with medication and/or the shot therapy I should regain it all...
