I realize more and more with each day how much I dislike Avril Lavigne. It used to be more on principle, because she was largely responsible for spearheading the "mall punk" movement, but when I listen to her songs I realize there's nothing punk about her, mall or otherwise. She's easy listening. She's the kind of music that gets played in supermarkets. In 20 years she'll probably have a recurring nightly gig in Vegas. One of her songs was playing in my gym's change room the other day and it created an ear worm in my brain that has STILL NOT GONE AWAY. ("I'm here fer youuu, I'm here fer youuuuu." AHHHHHHHH!)

Even after two nights of NXNE bands, some of which were excellent (more on that later, if I feel like it, maybe), Avril Lavigne's inspidly catchy supermarket music is still rattling around in there. UGH. I've resorted to whistling the Gilligan's Island theme to try to get rid of it.

Help me.
