Gisela Stuart was the Labour representative on the Convention on the Future of Europe, which compiled the original draft of the constitution.
She's been quoted in the past as saying that it shocked her that, at the convention, nobody had asked the question "Is what we're doing here what's wanted by the people of Europe." According to the
Guardian she's now made more
comments to the Bruges group.
They may well have been mis-reported (especially if it was the Bruges group which informed the media) but I find it rather ironic that she's saying the exact things that I've been lambasted for saying at various Labour Students events. At such events, it really is funny how certain people there will argue from totally different positions depending on what has been said by party leaders recently.
Ah well. Such is politics.
