Disturbing rehabilitation...

This news article about the ongoing construction of a rehab/detox in the middle of the Humber prompted me to do a search which yielded these results.

Objects of the charity setting this up are:

(A) THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION (B) THE RELIEF OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH.

I'm not the only one who's very disturbed by all this. My colleagues agree that it sounds incredibly dodgy. This scheme is being mooted in the media as a panacea for Hull's drug problems. Not only is this rather naive, I think it's dangerous. They are aiming to treat 150 addicts all at the same time in a very small and isolated space. That's 150 very vulnerable people stuck in the middle of nowhere, with no hope of escape other than drowning, all ripe for indoctrination, especially when the carrot they'll no doubt be dangling will be some form of medication, (unless they're offering a medication free detox, which again would be highly risky) which the poor little captives will be absolutely desperate for.

Your salvation, devotion and redemption will result in nice, tasty valium prescription.

I'm not going to condemn this completely until I get more information; what little I can find is sketchy and contradictory (sources seem unsure as to whether or not the purpose of this establishment is to be detoxification or rehabilitation.) I shall continue to keep my very keen eye out for future developments.
