Wow, time just flies by. During the week the weekend doesn't seem real and during the weekend I can't imagine that I've ever done anything but sit on my couch and watch TV. Life is strange like that.

On Saturday visited my friend Andrea in Grand Rapids (you know, the married one). It was pretty fun, had a good lunch and then stopped by a street fair that was going on. It was small but full of life and music and delicious smelling food from the vendors. It was in one of those sudent-y hippy neighbourhoods where people are much more affluent then they like to let on, kind of like Ann Arbor.

We were going to see Batman Begins in IMAX because *gasp* neither she nor her husband had seen it yet but it was a late showing and Andrea got pretty tired. We met up with her husband at the theatre, though, and that was ... interesting. You know, if you've been cleaning and then decide to go out and meet up with your wife and one of her oldest friends you should really shower first. I'm just saying. Oh, and you should also look up the definition of 'discussion' and 'lecture' because while discussions are fun lectures are only ever aggravating.

Who me, snark? Never. *rolls eyes*

We ended up going back to their place and playing some kind of card RPG called Super Munchkins. I've never been able to get into RPGs, the combination of pretending and rolling dice never really works for me. Maybe it's the dice part, makes it too much like a board game (I so suck at board games).

So, yeah, pretty good day.

We will not discuss the abysmal showing by the U-MI football team on Saturday. I am in a deep state of denial because my team is not supposed to suck this much.

Had stake choir practice last night. I apparently carried the soprano section. *basks in lukewarm praise* No wonder I sang my voice out last night. It was a lot of fun.

Now, weekend TV viewing:

This week's episode was very X-Files lite. There was the tromping through the woods to rescue stupid, dead campers and, wow, could this show be any more blatantly set in Vancouver? It was great fun. There was this whole bit with the brothers helping a sister find her brother who had been attacked by a Wendigo and it was all very self-insert and wonderful. By the end she kept on looking at Dean, the hot older brother (but not her brother, thankfully) in a 'sex me now' sort of way and I was totally with her on that for he is very, very hawt. They had this conversation where she was all, "Why did you lie to me, but, you know what I don't care let's go get busy in the back seat of your very cool car." And he's all, "You know, I could get totally get behind that proposition." But then an EMT called her over to go to the hospital with her own brother and that was that.

The WB brings me teh hot and I am grateful.

My re-viewing continues anon, even though it's slowed down a wee bit. Stupid LSAT. I watched through 1.15 Homecoming [Charlie ep] which means I also saw Boone and Michael's episodes which I adore. Poor, poor dead Boone, why didn't I appreciate you more while you were alive? That scene in the hotel room after he and Shannon have sex is just heartbreaking. No wonder he's relieved when he thinks she's dead. That's the kind of fucked up relationship one only expects to find in fanfic. Locke really is fond of taking directionless young men and giving them purpose, isn't he? He's kind of an army of one, if you believe that the army is all about purpose and direction and less about defense and killing.

I love Michael. He's not a great dad yet but boy is he trying. He loves his son so much. It'll be interesting to see if we get a Walt flashback episode because I'd like to see more of his relationship with his mother and Bryan. You get the feeling that Walt's never been the most important part of anyone's life before.

The mark of true love is when you're willing to go out and cut the thumbs off of the man who has impregnated your boyfriend's wife. Pullo sure does love his Vorenus.

Caesar, however, does not love Servilia, at least not enough to ruin his larger Roman ambitions. The scene where Servilia was cursing both Atia and Caesar was great, fascinating and intense. Lindsay Duncan has been amazing as Servilia but the depth of sorrow and anger and bitterness and grief that she brought to that scene was breathtaking.

The show is simply fantastic. There are so many threads and so many things that I could comment on and I've already spent my allotment of words for the dya. I love poltical intrigue, I love great actors showing their worth, I love carefully plotted stories and I love the Roman era. So, yes, I love this show.

Huh, this post makes my weekend seem more involved then it actually was. Well, good for it.

tv is my crack, u-m sports, blather, vocal salvation, rome, desert island shenanigans, family
