My Thanksgiving Weekend

Nov 29, 2004 11:11

Am convinced that I have gained 55 million pounds in the past four days but as that is the proper thing to do during the Thanksgiving holiday I'm not all that worried about it. The dinner was a true family affair with everybody doing something different. The Da made the stuffing and cooked the turkey, the Mum baked the pecan and pumpkin pies as well as doing up the yams and making the grazy and I baked the apple pie, did up the mashed potatoes and cooked the squash. The Big Lug didn't do much of anything save lay around and watch TV, though he did shovel half of the sidewalk.

I think I watched more movies then humanly possible this weekend. I blame HBO and TNT for the majority of my holiday viewing, which included such movies as Love,Actually, Sliding Doors, Dreamcatcher, Mulan and bits and pieces of Fools Rush In. I cannot, however, blame my viewing of disc 3 of Band of Brothers on anyone but myself.

I made the strangest noises as I watched Dreamcatcher late Saturday night. I think I've fallen terminally in love with Damien Lewis. I don't believe there's a cure for this particular disease nor am I inclined to discover one.

Now I'm back at work after sleeping and slacking the entire weekend. *shrug* At least I'm getting paid.

ETA: I can't believe I forgot to mention this. I also saw National Treasure over the weekend with the Da. The movie was better then expected and I spent the entire time waiting for Nic Cage to jump Sean Bean. Maybe I was just transferring (as I would dearly love to jump Mr. Bean) but I perceived some serious heat between those two characters. May I just say that it is most disturbing to be sitting by one's father having those sorts of thoughts.

thanksgiving, my boys/girls, movies are my anti-drug
