Went to Best Buy today in search of the next Farscape collection but the bastards didn't have it. Instead bought the Narnia soundtrack and the latest Foo Fighters album. The Narnia score is even more amazing then I thought it would be. It hits me on so many levels, both visceral and philosophical. I love how great music can just take me up and away, move me and inspire me. It's such an integral part of my movie experience that without a great score I don't think I can fully appreciate a picture. Music, music, music, I would be nothing without you.
Finally saw the latest BSG episode. What a ride. First off:
Dear Mr. Moore,
You don't know us and we don't know you but we would like to take this opportunity to warn you that if you harm a single hair on Tyrol's head
hiyacynth and I will have to hurt you, severely. We are still endeavoring to overcome the shock and grief we felt at the passing of our last space boyfriend and will not allow you to put us through something like that again.
We're putting you on notice, sir, and hope that you will take this as seriously as we take your weekly actions.
Sincerely,
liptonrm and
hiyacynth Now that I've gotten that very important message out of the way I can spew forth with love for the gritty, layered relationships that are everywhere on that show!!! Starbuck will do anything for Adama but she has felt a tenuous sort of connection with Cain so will she really be able to pull do the deed? The military is all Kara knows and you know that she'll never be truly satisfied searching for a mythical Earth when there are people, compatriots, back on Caprica that still need her help.
Cain is the example of how someone can just go completely batshit crazy after their world is destroyed. She has a Speirs-like ruthlessness and focus that must make her one hell of a soldier but she's completely lost the compassion that made her any sort of a human. If the survivors give up the trappings of civilization all to fulfill a probably-doomed quest to destroy their robotic enemies then it becomes a classic case of becoming what you most hate and from what I've observed that is never worth the price. And yet, on a level, one cannot blame her for starting down that path because the mission is all she has left, without her war there was no reason for her to survive when so many others died.
Seeing conditions on the Pegasus really illustrate how much Roslin and Adama have done for their fleet. They've given them hope and a reason to keep on living with their humanity well intact.
Layers upon layers, my friends, layers upon freaking layers. This is the kind of show Joss Whedon only wishes he could make. I can't wait till next week.
New Lost tomorrow night. Looks like it's going to be a Mr. Eko episode. Very exciting.
Look at the beautiful new icon I found! I love that moment when Peter and Edmund finally see each other as they really are without anything else in the way. They're such boys because it takes both of them almost dying for them to actually hug and acknowledge that yes, they really love each other but, oh, it's just perfect. I love them all so much.
